Valor is signified by ones ability to stand strong in the heat of battle. Leaders of family events must show their valor by leading troops into combat and bringing our troops through the battle successfully. The victories below highlight Oldroar's accomplishments on the battlefield as a leader.
Stories of Valor:
"I may of never known Roger Oldroar Rall but if it wasn't for his stories I heard of I wouldn't of never join this family nor lead events. From what I understand this man was the true family man and I like to fellow in his steps to try to live up to the values of this family and the image that he had to leave behind.
"Playing Guild Wars 2, in World vs. World. Your calm, commanding voice missing from the voice chat. Along with your many creative strategies for a great fight to move from the underdogs to the top. The legacy that you've left behind is one that inspires me forward when all odd are against us."
"I really can't put a finger on it - nothing I could ever say could truly describe the feeling that went through me as he lead me into battle. If his warband was available for me, it was his I wanted to be in. It has absolutely nothing to do with the other leaders, it was just this inate sense within me that I belonged following him. And maybe that is what it all boils down to - people just wanted to follow Oldroar. It is the mark of a true leader and a leader that I will miss."
"Oldroar was one of my very favorite players. He loved my healing and made me feel good as a player and as a person.
"When I first joined the Family, Oldroar saved me from certain death. He was the first person in the Family that I met out and about by accident. That day he took me under his wing and showed me where to go, what puzzles to do, and took me on a portculum gathering tour. I loved to joke with him. He always had time to talk."
"Oldroar was the role model that everyone wanted to be around, everyone wanted to be like, and no one will ever replace. Roar's demeanor and character was what everyone should try to emulate inside and outside any online game.
"I never got to know Oldroar very well, but I did group with him a few times shortly after Rift launched, and you could tell that he was such a treasure. My heart hurt when I found out that he was gone. My sympathies to his wife Karen - thank you for sharing him with us. We are all better people for knowing him and his legacy will live on in all of us."
"Will not forget all those Warhammer raids, Oldroar the Swordmaster with Musclor the White Lion tearing up with style all over the lands. He was always in the frontline and always looking how to help the team.
"Thank you for everything buddy.
"Such a kind and generous man. Oldroar had the heart and courage of a true champion. His wonderful voice, sense of humor and wisdom will be sorely missed on guild vent. To travel down the road with this man, into battle, was a true honor. We all so mourn his passing. His family can take comfort in knowing Roger's life touched so many others--he leaves behind so many, many friends. Oldroar represented the true heart and values of Gaiscioch.
"Old was a great guy. He would speak from his heart, and you just had to listen. You'll be missed Old. Will see ya up there."
"I spent a lot of time in vent and running along with Oldroar as one of the warband leaders in Warhammer. He was awesome at how he brought people together and made sure they had fun right along with him. He cared for those he played with and thoroughly enjoyed his time here. I missed seeing him here in Rift since he left before I got back with the family, but I won't forget all the times from Warhammer. He lives on in the memories of many."
"Always enjoyed being in the same room as you, your calming voice was a beacon when others went nuts.
"Rest in Peace old friend. We all will miss you Greatly."
"Oldroar, Gabe and Gill were the first Gaiscioch members who adopted me when I joined the guild. Oldroar was always supportive and encouraging and protective, giving advice and standing tall whenever things got uncomfortable for others to do so. His sense of honor and proper treatment of others, to always put those you are leading before yourself and your own personal desires, were some of the many characteristics he taught by example. Oldroar's leadership style and advice is what convinced me I had found a long term gaming home in Gaiscioch. I am so very sorry Oldroar is gone now and that I did not get to spend more time with such a terrific person. I will miss him deeply."
"Oldroar! You will be missed my friend. Gaiscioch and gaming in general will not be the same. Thank You for being a great friend."
