Welcome to all the new players joining us for Elder Scrolls Online. Keep an eye on this post over the next few weeks I'll be adding quite a bit of information to help guide your experience with Gaiscioch in the coming months.
glad we are choosing three campaigns, one for each alliance people play in allowing for people to be able to group up in any alliance and not wind up fighting against family. Figured this would be how it had to be, but glad to see it confirmed. =)
The Guild Wars 2, the Chapter 4 will still be active, right? That 2013 looks like it died that year :c
Kitty, see my other highlighted post about chapter 4 after Chapter 5 launches.
I hate to ask, but what other highlighted posts? :c
Ah! Found it! Thanks for bumping it Fog, it was under news and announcemenets :B
I apologize for being such a purrito! :p
Greetings Fam!
New member here. I've spent the last few hours exploring this website and reading posts on these forums and I'm so excited to be a part of this community. I wish I had heard about it a long time ago and maybe I would have stuck with GW2 longer than I did.
Anyway, extremely excited for ESO and can't wait to play with some of you! Thanks for this post as it was informative and reinforced the qualities I'll bring into game to represent this family!
Looks like Im rolling a Nord!
Cheers
I am new here as well but have started in the GW2 guild and Just a couple of noobish questions. I really liked my Wood Elf I created on Beta. With the Imperial Edition, I will be able to roll a Wood Elf in Ebonheart? Also what are the campaigns exactly. Thanks!
I am new as well to the family. From the posts I read and the website itself I am really glad that I was able to join. Look forward to release (early) playing with everyone.
Elizabeth, yes you can play a Elf in Ebonheart with the preorder.
Elizabeth, to explain campaigns I'll give you a little bit of background first.
Player-vs-Player combat in ESO is called Alliance-vs-Alliance (AvA) and is a very large-scale endeavor, sort of like WvW in GW2. ESO will have 3 different alliances. Those players who are in the same alliance as you are will work with you against the other two alliances.
However, since ESO will have only one server, not everyone will 'fit' on one map. To solve this problem, ESO will have multiple instances of the AvA area (which is called Cyrodil), in which a limited number of players (which is actually several hundred) from each alliance will fight over objectives. Each of these instances is called a campaign.
Once the game releases, you will be able to open up the AvA window in game and select a campaign to join. You can expect to see over 100 different campaigns in that list within a few days of launch.
As Fog has said, Gaiscioch will be waiting a few days after release to select a campaign for us to join as a family on the EP side.
I hope this answers your question!
@Sylus Yes it does. Thank you very much!
Anyone know if even tho im on AD i can still join the guild or do i need to be in the same alliance? cause i have some friend that gona play on AD ;c
Who could have thought playing on the little sisters of the poor server (Hib-Nimue) with you guys all those years ago would mean over 10 years later I'd still be playing alongside you all. Of course, I wasn't Gaiscioch, but the Roisin Dubh were very like-minded.
Very nice and inspiring video production also.
Hello folks,
I became a new member earlier today and have spent the day going over the web site, viewing videos, and setting up RaidCall. I'm very happy to be here and look forward to meeting you all in The Elder Scrolls Online.
My wife will be applying for membership in about a week, after we get her computer set up.
We both have been in EverQuest and Vanguard for over a decade and have never participated in PvP but we're looking forward to learning all about the world of Tamriel with all of you.
Thank you, to all of you who make The Gaiscioch Family the warm inviting community that you are.
Happy hunting and safe adventures,
Tuz
Thanks for this post. I look forward to seeing the updates and getting involved with the campaigns that are chosen. New to the family and MMO's, but definitely NOT Elder Scrolls. I've known TES since around 1995 when I first played Arena. Very excited to play ESO and meet the Gaiscioch family!
I've updated it with some new information
I know you have a lot of work ahead of you, but I am so excited to jump in and play with the Family!
So I have another question: Will the guild be account based or character based. The reason I ask is I am really digging the AD story line and I would like to run a char in both alliances. If I am on my AD toon will I still be able to see chat and event announcements?
Thanks!!
Guild is account based. :)
Elizabeth, you can definitely see the guild chat while you are adventuring in the PvE area of the Aldmeri Dominion, but I think you won't be able to see guild chat of other alliances when you are in Cyrodill. I heard they are doing this to prevent spying.
Thanks guys!!
I finally decided to give ESO a try and pre-purchased the digital Imperial edition and created my on-line account. According to Gaiscioch ESO sign-ups, I should be able to log-on and press "O" to bring up contacts to get a contact ID. I can't seem to find anything like that anywhere on my ESO account (Website). Is it only something that is available from the game client? If not, can someone help me out with a bit more information on how to create and submit my contact ID? Thanks.
That part must be done after head start in game. :)
Just wanted to say thank you for allowing me to join the family and look forward to sharing in your adventures.
Welcome, Damon!
Welcome indeed!
Btw are we on the PTS? cause i hear big guilds/communities got invited to the pts, maybe we can send some kind of email or something to get in.
We've been in the PTS for about 9 months. That's where the "AvA Video" came from ;). At this point however the likelihood of getting more invites is very little.
Didnt know it was limited, well at least we have ppl with exp to help us the "newbis" ;D.
OK, thanks. I'll just sit tight until the early entry for digital starts.
Elizabeth, you can definitely see the guild chat while you are adventuring in the PvE area of the Aldmeri Dominion, but I think you won't be able to see guild chat of other alliances when you are in Cyrodill. I heard they are doing this to prevent spying.
Also, if I have my information correct, if you are in the guild from a different faction you won't be able to pvp in the guilds home campaign. At least that's what it sounded like to me when I was watching the pod cast that was describing it a little bit.
Look forward to be a part of the family. Based upon the above descriptions I may be joining the Gaiscioch na Findias room.
Beloc
So good to be on PTS Foghladha!
I enjoyed every minute on the last betas ;)
Hope 30th March comes soon, can't wait withouth jump around on twitch's channels.
I'll stick with my Breton Nightblade on Ebonheart Pact at Launch, we'll meet very soon!
Well i am a new Member to the family me and a friend of mine played ESO in the last beta event really enjoyed the game and started to look for a place to call home. Glad we got in to this family and look forward to playing with everyone at launch.
Greetings and welcome, Springy!
Hello everyone,
I just joined yesterday. Looking forward to playing ESO with ya'll. Still playing GW2 on TC in the meantime however (yes...one of the former enemies :D )
Just wanted to introduce myself <<wave>>
Raf
You would be amazed at how many Gaiscioch once stood on the other side of the battlefield. :) I always loved the TC players anywho.
Updated with campaign information
I guess I am confused. I see a guild under Daggerfall Covenant. This is an associated guild - not a branch right?
It's part of the Tuatha Alliance. So yes, an associated guild.
@Orsan Ah ok, Thanks!! So we might be getting an allied guild also in AD? Will these groups be avoiding fighting us in the campaigns as well?
That is my understanding, yes.
I have a question: As you said marketplace for ESO will be coming soon, But will I be able to use my Family Vault Credits that I have from previous Chapters I have play with Gaiscioch ?
I'm looking forward to Joining you guys in ESO, I used to play with you back in the Warhammer Online days, i've been out of the MMO scene for a bit and this one has caught my interest being an Ex, DAoC and Warhammer Online player.
I just changed my username however. Koigan was a Dwarf in Warhammer Online, afraid that wont be very fitting for Tamriel. @Kiryn43 is my account name in ESO.
Thanks for the updated post, new to Gaiscioch and that answered some of my questions, love the way the guild is run, cant wait to start playing ESO with you all
@ Mahedros
Anyone know if even tho im on AD i can still join the guild or do i need to be in the same alliance? cause i have some friend that gona play on AD ;c
You can still join the guild. There will be a guild set up for each alliance. The main family events will be held on the EP server, so you would need a toon on that alliance in order to participate (which is NOT required). So you can set up on AD and join your friend and join the Gaiscioch guild on the AD server!
I guess the big unknown at this point is exactly how many are going to be a part of the other two alliances and how that will impact AvA.
Any "official" events for the early access folks?
* Gaiscioch will ONLY be Ebonheart Pact
We have Tuatha Guilds (Non-Gaiscioch Related) who have been part of our extended alliance for Years, over several games that will be exploring those other alliances. They are not Gaiscioch, they are independant guilds with their own websites and own voice communication tools.
If you are in Gaiscioch and decide to play on one of the other 2 factions you will be with us in spirit (guild chat) but will not be able to participate in anything we are doing. If multiple members choose to play on another faction your welcome to claim leadership & participation together on those other factions however there will be NO SUPPORT for special events or tools for those other factions.
Our eldership will be entirely devoted towards nourishing and operating the Ebonheart Pact side. We will not be devoting time to the other 2 factions. In a perfect world this would not be the case but we will have our hands fun just running the 1 faction and keeping Guild Wars 2 going at the same time. Running all 3 factions would be like running 3 different games at the same time. Theres just not enough of our attention to go around. We don't want people feeling like the "unloved child" or any of that dramatic stuff.
So from the get go we are putting this disclaimer out there. If you play Aldermeri or Daggerfall you will be on your own and only be supported by others who chose to play those factions. There may come a day when players who are not playing Ebonheart primarily will not have access to the Main room of the house due to size restrictions as well. We highly recommend everyone creating 1 Ebonheart Pact character so that they can participate with the family. Don't worry about the quest lines, we will likely have events to help members get ahead without grinding quests.
Btw, we can explore AD or DC at veteran level and get the same quest as if you start new toon at those alliance zone ? Do we get to access their town too ?
Yes. After you hit veteran ranks you play through those storylines anyway. Technically if you dont like ebonheart story you should do it first. Second quest takes longer than first and third takes longer than second. Your first campaign is the one youll spend the least time in.
@Dith
Check out the event calendar http://www.gaiscioch.com/events/
People are normally very busy during early access, but fog has a AvA event listed on the 4th. I don't see any official events other than that.
@Booie The calendar time, is that PST time zone?
Yeah, all times are PST (GMT-8)
Once it's all setted up, working and releases, I want to repeat a question from Tirean about the vault credits, can I use my super stash of vault credits that I got from GW2 and pour it on ESO marketplace?
Vault credits are not limited to one game, they carry over into ESO.
All points transfer across games. You can earn them in gw2 and spend them in eso.
When playing in PVE there are no guild "icons" to denote other guild members in game, right? Any word on ESO adding a feature like that? It would be nice to know that guy you run past on the road is a guild member.
Is switching campaigns expensive? This will obviously limit recruitment eligibility after release. I joined Gaiscioch shortly after GW2's release because I saw GSCH tags everywhere on every map. It will be like that in early days of TESO, and there will probably be a lot of applications from Pact members spread across all three campaigns.
Switching campaigns officially is expensive, however you can be a "guest" on a campaign and still earn alliance points. You just can't become emperor.
It was mentioned in another post but just for the sake of continuity; they've drastically lowered the AP cost of changing campaigns and allowed us to change campaigns every 24 hours for launch so it shouldn't be too tough to switch over to GSCH's campaign once Fog finds us a good one. (If anyone's having trouble with getting the AP to change I'm sure we can make a group of 'helpers' to get them out :P
GSCH 'could' even go back to their plans of waiting a bit before choosing a home campaign that'll fit everyone and give us a good fight. :)
I do wonder how long they will leave this reduced cost of changing in though...
Guys, There's a simple solution. Guest until the official campaign is announced. It's not that difficult and we don't need to waste AP. Remember campaigns are 90 days. You're not going to be invested in a campaign in 5. All those rewards you would be missing out are not even going to be awarded in the 5 days it takes us to see where things shape up.
I need you all to wait before declaring your home campaign. If everyone does there own thing it will be very time consuming to get us all together again and the whole point of having a united front is to get people into AvA with us when the time comes. If everyone is off doing their own thing it's going to make for a terrible AvA experience for the family as a whole.
We need to be organized and patient on our approach. He who rushes into battle hastefully, greets his maker first. Just WAIT until we declare before rushing in to declare home.
Really as Fog has said - 5 days is not long too wait... even if you don't like PvE give ESO's a try - and work through some of the story just for the lore. If you really can't wait just be a "guest" during that first week and get to know the lay of the land then when Fog makes the announcement you will be all that much more prepared to help out our "home". It is going to be a low pop Campaign for EP so getting "our AvA on" will be all that more great for us - and we'll have a blast.
The path walked with Patience is the wisest path to take in this case - so please follow her; be patient and guide others along the same path.
On another note - barring unforeseen circumstances I should be in game at launch time - 4 a.m. PST and available for questions/answers in zone chat and once the guild is up - in guild chat - and also RC.
Safe Journ all,
Happiness is a state of mind... I have my primary residence in that state.
I don't really plan on going into AvA until like level 20 or so, I find it better to wait until I have a few specific skills :)
hahaha the GW2 Dance Party, man I remember recording that with Pookha that night. Late night craziness. Looking forward to live!!
I like the idea of waiting. Those first 5 days are really better used for getting to know your character race, class, skills, etc. In order to truly be effective you should spend a bit of time doing solo and group world content. This way you can see how your character works and get a feel for group synergy. Some of us have been in the betas, but not all of us. Any changes made after they shut down the last beta will be in launch. It is important to play it a little bit before we jump into AvA...
While PvE content is a little different from AvA because of the AI vs HI, PvE grouping will serve you better than just jumping into AvA and doing whatever with random people. You are going to be building skills outside of AvA with a multitude of people that you will most likely be doing AvA content with. I think this is important to do as a community. You will build the confidence in each other and as a team. That is going to be more important in AvA than rushing in and trying to be the first Emperor.
Sorry if I missed it, but is there a list of who will be leading each Core, and whether they are more EST or more PST based? I'm East Coast and just wondering if it makes any difference so that I'll be on at about the same time as the leaders of my Core and be able to participate in organized events, etc. And will each Core have separate organized events or one organized event for all Cores?
I saw the event posted for April 4th starting at 11pm PST, which will be 2am EST for me, heh.
Club Gaiscioch is always late, but other events are normally closer to 8-9ish pm est, but all event times are scheduled in pst.
Public events that Fog and them normally hold are open for everyone, but many events are created outside the public server wide events and are created by regular members. After a week or so, you will reach the rank of Lorgair and can create your own events.
Don't think of core rooms as separate guilds. I lead all of them with my 20 elders. It's merely there because of the confines of the game. The game wont allow all of us to be in 1 guild together. So we built 5. 4 to hold everyone thats played in the last 45 days and 1 to hold everyone who's played the last 14 days.
We are all 1 family. We don't plan separate activities, we don't have separate rankings, we are all 1. It's the same house just different rooms because you can't fit 1500 people into a single 500 person max capacity room :). And you surely can't invite guests over.
Ok, thanks for the clarification :) No worries then.
i cannot wait to see everyone again ^^
Hello!
I have a little question about what server Gaiscioch is going to be on. As I understand it (correct me if I'm wrong) there are going to be two megaservers, one in the US and one in the EU. These two servers are not linked together. My question is if the guild is going to be US or EU based. I didn't seem to be able to find this information on the website.
Thanks in advance :)
We will be on the us megaserver.
Just to let you know guys, campaign names have been announced! Im in Daggerfall so it might take a while for me to see which campaign our leader chooses but all you Ebonheart people can discuss which one you like to be in the most before the game releases :D
We will be in one of the least populated campaigns and won't know this until or around the 4th, until then we will just guest something.
They have released the "first" list yes - but I imagine that these will all fill up and that more will be added as time goes on. I really believe it will be one of those added campaigns that we will head into - so I am really glad that they came out with a list as I imagine lots of guilds have already chosen their campaign. It's a good thing we are waiting.
Thanks for the summary, Fog. I am really looking forward to the early release.
Fym
see y'all tomorrow 4am!
I think the key for everyone should be to focus on getting your characters leveled to 10 so you will be ready for AvA. Take your time to enjoy the game beginnings. There is soo much to explore and find in the beginning areas. This is where you will be able to establish your crafting beginnings, if that is what you desire. Remember that the starting/tutorial area has a lot of urns, boxes and chests that contain some great beginnings. Lockpicks abound in the beginning containers. I got over 45 the last character I created in Beta testing. That along with lots of provisioning crafting items. Will see everyone tomorrow morning at zero dark thirty!
Caytlynne of Skye
Has the guild invitation process started? I created an character and played a bit today. Account is soldenal. Thanks!
I rolled a character to play with my partner and named him Orvilaf Sunbringer, realized that now I cannot play alone with that character without outleveling my partner's and now I have to roll another toon for AvAs...
I'm the opposite. I can't keep up with other people leveling. Up to 5 alts so far (yes...2 templars...just because) and so much stuff to harvest, craft, read...places to explore.
I finally told my wife (with her 1 single toon...bahh!..lol) go ahead without me cause I'll never be able to focus on a single character long enough to keep up with her.
I'll get to level 10 on one of them eventually and we can all go play ava.
We will be in Hopesfire
so wont be able to join for a bit as I cant buy a time card online and my retailers wont have them for a month:( oh well hope to join you all soon.
Hi all, I just joined your ESO chapter. I had initially joined Gaiscioch for GW2 over a year ago but then stopped playing GW2 so I never had the opportunity to connect with anybody.
Now I'm a week into ESO and loving it - fortunately my first chosen 'main' is in Ebonheart Pact which aligns perfectly with the clan. Being an altoholic though I will have toons in other alliances.
I don't PvP so the campaign restriction doesn't really impact me.
I'm already in a small friends-and-family guild in ESO but am looking forward to having Gaiscioch as my /guild2. :) Currently playing "Ida Know" a level 21 templar tank/dps switch.
7/4 11:52 pm... still waiting for Daggerfall campaign announcement.
So am I. Need to get word from our alliance kin.
If you want any advice for the Daggerfall campaign, i've heard Bloodthorn is pretty balanced among all 3 factions and not too filled up.
Edit: Nevermind, just checked it's almost filled :O
So far leaning Wabbajack. Vigilance is deciding this weekend with several other guilds we know and love but preliminary results show favor for Wabbajack.
Wabbajack is full for the Daggerfall Side on North America, only Aldmeri are allowed in =/
Daggerfall Campaign Announced: Wabbajack
Updated per today's newsletter
Thanks for the update Fog. Exciting times ahead!
I'd love to be part of the Armory room, however no one ever posts requests up for crafting anything (not that I've seen) so I never get any points for that. I'm actually researching some of my final items over the next month, and will have everything in Blacksmithing, Clothing and Woodworking researched by next month's end.
Guess that's the penalty for being a N00B. :-/
Work orders don't stay up there for long last month we filled over 2000 of them. They appear but the average turn around is between 15 and 30 minutes. Just gotta keep an eye on it. This just shows the importance of everyone using it.
The Marketplace is awesome, and I love the way the point system works across it. I have found orders, but agree with Foghladha, you gotta be quick. The guild is pretty good at using it even in game. Often someone will request in guild chat for an item, and then let me know when to check the Marketplace to claim it and deliver it. That is very helpful! I was able to get all my traits researched, almost exclusively using the Marketplace. So keep your eyes open. Now, I have not seen a lot of requests for crafted sets yet. I hope that will come as more people get up to VR ranks. I love the idea that there will be a separate store for us to sell to the public, still allowing the main guild store for "selling" or providing items to guildies. Thanks Gaiscioch and Fog.
If only I could perfect this sms alert system ; p.
I have updated the Guild Store requirements and added a Need Contribution section.
I cannot wait to join you guys in ESO! Running around with the family again will be infinitely better than studying for law school exams. Look for Vodkanight in a few weeks (and a bunch of ESO noob questions).
Hello all,
Looks like I've been invited back for the great beta testers weekend! How nice it will be to running through the lands of Tamriel once again. BUT! This time with my Gaiscioch family and friends!
I know I'm quite and I solo almost all the time and that's why most of you don't know me. But I'll try to come into chat and say hi now and then. I'm Malayla, Dawn Firestarter, Grannys Gottsagun just to name a few that I have in the family at GW2.
I'm downloading now and I don't remember the names of my toons or if I have to create a new one... but I'll see you there!
Val
I love the synchronized dance parties in the video.
Updated with new GSCH information
Sweet!
I'll craft up an ESO specific version, if anyone has requests for other versions feel free to ask!
Update looks good.
I notice i never updated the marketplace section of this pitch since launch so I updated that too. Also changed up the Introduction to consolodate it a bit more and better tell the story of what GSCH is.
Sweet! this is really what i needed, Jairone, can you wrap the ESO emblem around the updated symbol?
Thanks for this was what i was looking for :D
Lavum, we cant legally. Please do not combine our logos. Its against zenimax acceptable use policy for their branding.
well crap LOL, thanks for the heads up
Dougie,
Tried to sent invite this am and it said account not found. Please double check your eso id and resubmit request.
Prissy
Also, you must be playing the PC/MAC version of ESO to join. We do not have communities on XBOXOne or PS4
I see your invite in the queue. The next elder to login should be able to shoot that off to you.
That could possibly be it. We're on the US Servers.
Updated voice communication and elder team
