For 12 years, I have Livestreamed a look into the games we've played, some games I felt people might be interested in, and the events we've hosted. Over the first 11, we managed to grow to 1,000 followers at a slow and steady pace.
It wasn't until I took on this Bi-weekly news report for the community on the Cloudwing Valley server in Conqueror's Blade that I truly found my niche. In the past 2 months, we have gained over 350 followers. During each broadcast, we have between 70 and 90 people watching. Even the game developers themselves dropped in for a cameo this month.
What I've done is combined my web development skills with livestreaming. I created a website (conqueorsbladehub.com) to help drive the livestream. The website analyses the data I provide it after each war and exports overlays for the stream. I've used my graphic design and video design skills to create a trailer and layout for the stream and I've focused the stream on the community rather than trying to focus it on myself like other people who have tried this route. All in all the community loves it and is supporting it.
I guess all that radio & television broadcasting school finally is coming into play :D. With this, I get to use all the things I enjoy in one harmonious livestream that is finally being embraced by the Twitch community at large.
This in turn has increased our average viewers across the board for all of the streams we do. Making that little window into our community a little more viewable. This is good news moving forward and now that I know my niche I can continue to look for new similar opportunities to continue the growth. This means more people finding our community and more opportunities for new memories and friendships to be made.
