The Christmas Gnomes Strike Again

Believe what you will, obviously Booming Games doesn't believe in the cute lil guys. But anyone that has worked in the development world knows there are 2 weeks you do not mess with. The week of Christmas and the week of New Year. The holiday gnomes are very protective of their time off and if you try to make them work they will tear your product to the ground and you'll spend your holidays working.

The first time Booming tried this was season 5. That was one of the worst seasons ever and lead to them splitting the servers. It was plagued by endless loading screens, phantom battles, extreme ping times (10k+), and constant crashing. We had a drill war that spawned a live war an hour before. It was quite possibly the worst season to date. Most of the season was spent force quitting the game to try again only to get stuck on another permanent loading screen.

Now Booming has tried their hand a second time and the Gnomes straight up revolted bringing a huge barrage of problems to their doorstep and ultimately causing a 20+ hour outage and rollback. Hopefully, they have learned from their second experience and don't try it again next year. By the time you read this the servers will likely be back up and hopefully working properly but never underestimate the Christmas Gnomes. You might believe in them, but they eat you!
