This month has been full of ups and downs. We saw Amazon's Lord of the Rings MMO fall due to business negotiations gone wrong. But we also saw a whole slew of new opportunities arrive for several games in beta. In addition, there were a few new MMOs announced that are worth a glance. Even if some have questionable names.
Perfect New World
Yeah, I know…. Such a weird name to choose with New World coming this fall. I'm sure nobody will be confused. Would not doubt if we see a legal battle over this one.
But don't let that scare ya off yet. This is a reimagining of the old school MMORPG Perfect World International which was one of the early pioneers of the free-2-play genre. Not a whole lot is known other than it plans to pull from the lore and be a completely new experience, not simply a remaster.
New Jade Dynasty World
Wait. Wait don't throw your shoe at me! Yes, they actually called it New Jade Dynasty World. Perfect World entertainment seems to be very fond of throwing the words New and World on all their upcoming MMORPGs. This is similar to Perfect New World but a re-envisioning of the classic MMORPG Jade Dynasty. I'm not sure if any of you were familiar with Jade Dynasty but I figured it deserved a mention, even if for comedic value. Granted the visuals look pretty nice but the lack of UI in either of these trailers makes me wonder if they're actually in-game or just rendered.
Sword of Legend Online
Now for a serious MMORPG that's scheduled to launch this year! You can actually preorder it on steam right now. It's pretty rare for a new game to surface and launch in such a tight window. There's no telling if it's going to be as good as it looks but it looks pretty amazing so far. Very beautiful scenery design for sure.
Swords of Legends Online is an action MMORPG set in a breathtaking fantasy world with sophisticated combat mechanics and a unique storyline based on Chinese mythology. Be sure to head over to Steam to check it out.
Path of Exile 2
New information and a new trailer were finally provided by Grinding Gear Games about its upcoming MMOARPG. Path of Exile 2 is a new seven-act storyline that is available alongside the original Path of Exile 1 campaign. Both the old and new storyline lead to the same shared Atlas endgame. Path of Exile 2 retains all expansion content that has been created over the last six years and introduces a new skill system, ascendancy classes, engine improvements, and more.
With Beta scheduled for sometime in 2022, we have plenty of time to keep track of the development. Be sure to head over to their official site for more information
