Some of us take a little longer to look beautiful in the morning. Such is the case for the upcoming MMORPG New World. In what seems like an endless series of delays, New World is dead set on making the right first impression come launch day. After their final closed beta, they decided to delay the game a month to fix some of the last remaining issues hindering the game before launch.
While delays suck, in this case, it is quite good. MMORPGs are lucky to be above the 50k concurrent player mark. Keep that in perspective that games like Counter-Stike still, today bring in 14x that population (700k+) on a daily basis. The risk/reward on MMOs is quite high and the profit potential is quite low. It's easy for an MMO to fail and Amazon realizes this and is embracing this. They know they have to get it right.
