New Event Claiming Improvements on the Way!

As you all know from last month's newsletter, I'm hard at work reinventing how our chapters and adventures work. Lowering the bar for chapters and making adventures have the same type of progression available to them as chapters.

As we move into a more small-scale focused MMO scene, we are streamlining to provide a wider player base access to our core Gaiscioch systems. The first step in this process is the event claiming system.

How it works now

  • Chapters - Events are posted by the event leader and are awarded a fixed number of points based on the objectives they claimed. These points do not change and therefore are awarded instantly. Leaders earn Valor and Participants earn Fellowship points.
  • Adventures - Events are posted by any attending member using time-based objective markers. The more people who claim the event the more the event is worth. After 7 days the event locks down and Social Points are awarded to all attending players including the player who posted the event.

Unifying the Process

In the new system, all games will use the same system and function identically. Our games will dynamically shift between these tiers based on active registered members:

  • Chapter (200+)
  • Expedition (101-200)
  • Adventure (11-100)
  • Warband (3-10)

In addition, each game will earn up to 50 levels unlocking perks along the way. The more activity a game gets the more features it gains access to.

The New Claiming System

As we unify the claiming flow across all games we will be blending the two systems into one. Taking our favorite parts of each and combining them into one easy-to-understand system.

Event leaders will post the event on the website using the new leadership system which will guide them through the process and simplify what they can and can't claim along the way. Thus reducing the confusion. Each event type can have its own set of objectives. Our current event types are:

  • Guild (Mission / Quest / Etc)
  • PvE
  • PvP
  • Dungeons
  • Raiding
  • Timed - The initial core objectives available to all games.

Events will have a 3-day window for players to claim participation. At the end of this window, points will be assigned. Events will grow in value as the participation grows in numbers.

  • 1 Player: No Credit, Event will be Purged after 3-days.
  • 2 Players: 50% Credit will be awarded.
  • 3-8 Players: 100% Credit will be awarded.
  • 9-15 Players: 125% Credit will be awarded.
  • 16-25 Players: 150% Credit will be awarded.
  • 26-50 Players: 175% Credit will be awarded.
  • 50+ Players: 200% Credit will be awarded.

How our system works and what it's intended to do

If you've been a Gaiscioch member over the past 20 years you are probably familiar with the leadership and fellowship system. However not many really realize what is going on behind the curtain.

The leadership claiming system was designed to separate the proactive leaders who take initiative from the mass majority of leaders that lack that drive. Our warlord ranks are laced with some of the most proactive outgoing individuals that will do what is necessary to get the job done. These are the type of leaders we want in this community to climb the ranks and join our warlord team.

Now the fellowship system is built for multiple uses. First and foremost it is designed to bring people back to our website, the center of all of our news, discussions, upcoming events, and marketplace orders. It is also where you can spend your vault credits for some pretty cool stuff.

Secondly, it is meant to be a way that we can ensure that the events being entered into our system actually happened. By having this 2 step validation system at least 1 member in addition to the leader must verify the event actually happened before points are awarded.

Lastly, the fellowship system gives players an opportunity to give the leader a token of valor showing their endorsement of the leader of the event to join the Warlords of Gaiscioch. These can only be given by members who are of a lower rank than the leader. Tokens of Valor are required for them to advance to the warlord ranks.
