Movers and Shakers of 2021

For those of you just joining the community, you might not know how we work as a community. In the beginning, we used to pick games based on a qualifications matrix to assess whether or not a game would perform well with our community. Over the years game studios have begun offering less and less and making guild sizes smaller and smaller causing us to change how we operate if we want to survive.

This has led us to adapt to a new system where we throw every interesting MMO on the board, we form up a trial Gaiscioch and just like how grandma used to tell if spaghetti is done. We throw it against the wall and see if it sticks. If the population grows and maintains a healthy number we upgrade it from a Warparty to an Adventure then to an Expedition and if it goes really really well it becomes a full Chapter.

Here are some of this year's trials and how they did.

The Good:

  • New World - Interest exploded with more than 200 of us playing. Still, a month later the population is going strong. Turned into a Chapter in November.
  • Blood Bowl 2 - Dorda helmed this adventure and created a Fog bowl. Population in this adventure has been strong through its first season.

The Bad:

  • Bless Unleashed - Strong start with more than 40 of us playing but faded after the third week as people arrived at the forced PVP wall.
  • Swords of Legend Online - Launched with about 9 of us playing but quickly faded.
  • Elyon - The delay to move to free to play took the wind out of its sails. The delay placed its launch just after New Worlds launch. Only a couple of people expressed interest at the launch.
  • Valheim - Launched with about 20 of us playing but after a few months, the population dwindled.
  • Magic: Legends - This game launched in March and was shut down in October. It didn't survive its first year.
  • Phantasm Star Online 2: New Genesis - didn't have enough prelaunch interest from the community to invest time into.
