As our furry loved ones go, some weave their way into our lives more than others. For Carl, he quickly started stealing the show when I first started streaming. For 10 years he graced our Livestream with random chatter and commentary. I could not stream without him being there to watch and add his two cents.
During the appointment where was diagnosed with an untreatable nasal cancer, I received a ping on my phone stating that we had crossed the 1,000th follower on YouTube making us eligible for partnership. To receive such terrible news on such a day was heartbreaking but the notification made me smile and laugh as that was something Carl was a big part of encouraging me to keep at it. The timing was flawless as if he sent the message himself to let me know it was ok.
We decided that instead of dragging this out to maybe buy him another year, the best thing for Carl would be to free him of his pain. A year of surgeries, drugs, treatments, and pain was not something we wanted for him. So on August 29th, we laid him to rest so he could join his sister Mittens in the afterlife.
While I was the common voice on our streams and videos it was often Carl that let me know it was time to go live. He had our schedule memorized and would often come and assume the position of a true legendary stream cat. If I wasn't in my chair he would come find me and announce that it was time.
He will be missed dearly and we will forever remember him for his commitment to making comedic gold Livestreams with us. He will become the first Gaiscioch furbaby to join the Gaiscioch Ascended but I truly feel he belongs there. He has been a vocal part of our community for more than a decade and his presence will be missed.
New Charity Livestream in the Works
My wife and I are looking to start up a Charity Event to commemorate Streamcat Carl called the Cat Adoption & Rescue Livestream (CARL for short) where we raise money for charities that help rescue and place cats in loving homes. I hope to be able to get this event on the Calendar for the April/May timeframe and give it a similar format as our Extra Life Charity event. I'll keep you posted as we move forward with our plans.
