For about two decades we've had a field on our entry form where players could mention who invited or introduced them to our community. I have decided to take this a step further by creating referral links for each person so they can share them with friends and people they meet.
Each person that signs up using a member's referral link or by citing that member as the person who invited them to join will award the referring member contribution points based on the rank achieved by the referred player.
Referred Member Rank:
- Tier 1 (2): 100 Contribution
- Tier 2 (3-4): 150 Contribution
- Tier 3 (5-6): 200 Contribution
- Tier 4 (7-8): 300 Contribution
- Tier 5 (9-10): 400 Contribution
- Tier 6 (11+): 500 Contribution
You can view how many of each tier you have referred by viewing your profile and then clicking on the referral tab. You can even find a quick shareable link that will help fast-track members into our community.
It is my hope that this can further encourage players to refer people to our community in hopes we can grow our membership.
The usual cautionary note:
Now with every system like this, I have to consider that someone may try to exploit this. I have tracking in place to help me identify people who are creating accounts using their own code. If a member is caught doing this they will be subject to banishment from the community. There is no room in Gaiscioch for the unethical and dishonorable. Just like I have done in the past with other systems. I will be monitoring it like a hawk and have a red flag system in place.
