Great, this does make it easier ... Thank you
Over the past few months, several new features have been enabled on our discord making it even easier to get setup and going. Let's go over a few of the major improvements.
Member Onboarding
Now instead of having users have to stumble their way to the #getting-started channel to activate channels and agree to our terms, Discord has given us a way to enable the roles they want in entry to our server through the onboarding process.
A new section titled "Channels & Roles" is available at the top of the discord list that will enable you to show and hide any channel you like. Allowing you further customization options for how you interact with the community.
Adventure Reorganizing
In the past, each adventure had channels under their particular subheading including text and voice channels. We have moved all Warband text discussions under the Warbands header. Adventures with more than 10 active players will still receive their own channel group. At this point, we are limiting private voice channels to adventures, expeditions, and chapters only in an attempt to get members out of closed doors.
Over the past few years, one of the largest complaints from new members is that our discord has 3000+ people in it but nobody is in a voice channel to socialize with. This is largely because each game was locked behind a role. We constantly have people chatting in Discord but they are in private areas new members can't see.
To help encourage people to join in the fun all major activities should be held in the Gaiscioch Community channels that are public to all first-timers. We have created several constant rooms and have a new channel titled "+ Create Room" to create a dynamic public channel.
Dynamic Public Channels
So to change this we removed private channels that are locked behind roles for each adventure and created a "+ Create Room" channel.
To create a custom channel of your own. Simply join this channel. It will create a channel with you in it that gives you the ability to rename the channel using the "/voice-rename <new name>" command in the channels chat area.
This new setup will keep us more public and approachable and help elevate the visual of us being inactive.
Let's Hang Out!
Even if you're not playing a game atm or even playing with us feel free to stop by and say hi. I try to make myself available all day in the ClubGaiscioch or Tavern channel and I'd love to have some friends to chat with as we cruise through our day. Don't hesitate to hop in and ask questions or just chat. A big part of our community's success has come from our ability to help people make new lasting friendships and I welcome you all to use our platform for that. Let's chat!
