Changes Coming to Gaiscioch

Over the next few months, I will be renovating a big chunk of how our community works. The leadership & fellowship system. There are a few things I will be changing to help streamline the process of Adventures becoming chapters.

The Flow

The first major change comes in how we classify games. Currently, there are Chapters and Adventures that largely live on their own side of the fence with their own data associated with each. Social points have traditionally been what you earn playing Adventures while Leadership and Fellowship points are what you earn for Chapters.

By our 20th birthday, I hope to morph the two into one system. Games will be classified into 4 groups.

  1. Warband - 3-10 Active Players
These will be our scouting parties that will set up the foundation of adventures.
  2. Adventures - 10-100 Active Players
Once a scouting party has set up the adventure it's time to grow. If it becomes a popular hot spot it will begin unlocking new features.
  3. Expeditions - 100 - 200 Active Players
By the time an adventure becomes an expedition it has a stable core to grow on. It will have leveled up enough to start enabling core systems that will help further growth.
  4. Chapters - 200+ Active Players
Only the most popular games will ever reach this status and maintain it for a prolonged time. These chapters will go down in history within our community and will forever hold a place in our legend.

Unifying the System

All four tiers will begin earning Leadership and Fellowship points helping members on their Gaiscioch journey. However, one major change will be coming to the claiming system.

Participation Rewards Tiers

Based on the number of people who claim the event the overall points for the event will scale. This will encourage people to take the time to claim participation and encourage leaders to walk people through how to claim participation. The points will be awarded to the members after the 7 day lockdown window expires.

  • 1-2: No points will be awarded and the event will be deleted after 7 days.
  • 3: 50%
  • 4-10: 100%
  • 11-20: 125%
  • 20-50: 150%
  • 50-100: 175%
  • 100+: 200%

What About Social Points?

Going forward Social Points will be used exclusively for interacting and watching in Livestreams or other social concepts we come up with in the future. I may even find a way to award these for meetups.

Coming Soon

Soon you will notice the Adventure section of the site changing quite dramatically. It will change its name to Games and inside will be a list of every game we're playing ranked from most active to least active.

The existing setup of having Adventures with multiple warparties inside will go away. Instead, there will be a game page with game information, a discussion area, event calendar, game news, and access to a roster of players currently playing the game. More features will be added as Warbands grow into Adventures and then on to Chapters. Each game will have its own homepage which will be accessible from your command deck on the homepage of Gaiscioch.com or from the Gaiscioch Games drop-down menu.

Each game will have a level that equates to the total number of honor points earned by members playing that game. As games meet certain milestones they will level up and gain new features.

As games decline in population, some features will automatically disable and disappear. This system is being set up to dynamically grow and shrink as player demand requires so there isn't a lot of clutter that doesn't get used.

Additionally, each game will be assigned a Game Master who will be in charge of updating the core data that goes with the game from Roles, Classes, Objectives, Crafting Professions, etc. They will also be the point of contact for the adventure if anyone has questions. These people typically will be the ones running in-game presence for that game.

I'm hoping to have all of this done by our big annual Gaiscioch Community Conference in November. I figure as we enter our 20th year we need to prepare for the future and so far it's looking like the future is a bit smaller scale than our origins with very few upcoming games allowing larger guilds to even exist. I'm hoping to position us in a way that we can still continue to thrive even if on a smaller scale.

Well I am all for thriving.  Seems you have given this a considerable amount of thought.  If there is anything that I can assist with/in/on/over, let me know. Saludos
