This year's G4EL event went as well as could be expected with the economic downturn, layoffs, and overall decline in population. Even still we managed to raise $1,778 for the Children’s Miracle Network. I feel we did a fantastic job with the cards we were dealt and look forward to giving it another go next year.
Overall I don't think the hype train events did much for the overall event as attendance was low and we really didn't get moving until the main event. Next year I think I will stick to the Friday through Sunday format and just mention the event in our regular events leading up to the extra life event. We also had 5 different games either have problems or pull from the schedule in the last two weeks leading up to the event which caused some confusion and hassle.
I'm going to aim to have the calendar finalized 30 days before the launch of the event next year so we have fewer last-minute surprises. I also want to make sure the games we select are ones that have shown interest in supporting the event. This year only about 4 companies actually did anything to help support us.
Lastly, I want to rework the website engine a bit for next season to better streamline and connect the event and website together. There was a whole lot of confusion that I hope to resolve for next time.
If you'd like to donate the form should work through the end of December. Head on over to https://gsch.info/eldonate
