How to set up Ventrilo

I HIGHLY recommend you set up Ventrilo so you can hear the group/raid leader's instructions. Do this even if you do not have a microphone! You can listen even if you can't talk. It makes understanding the group/raid leader's plan much easier and therefore makes you a better player. Besides, it is more fun when you can hear what everyone is doing. Especially if you are like me..... chat challenged. Can't follow the chat window while doing other things.

You can get the Ventrilo client by following the link on the left side of the Gaiscioch web page (or just go to http://www.ventrilo.com/).

Follow the instructions on the web site to install the client.

Optional.... If you have used Ventrilo you probably have experienced this situation: Someone's voice is very loud. So loud everyone else is drowned out when he speaks. Meanwhile the raid leader's voice is very soft, you can hardly hear him. Well, you can follow these steps to insure that everyone's voice has the same volume...

Things to know before participating in your first large Gaiscioch event

You need to know how to use the Guild Rally System.
* For a complete explanation please see the article by Faiybella: How-to Use The Guild Rally System (for Porting Guildmates).

* Prior to the event it is essential to know is how to be ported to the Guild Rally Flag
* read the article by Fairybella!
* go the tavern on the east side of Sanctum and find Gilbert Hilberto (Guild Charter Magistrate at loc 7611, 3104).
* buy Rally Scrolls for 10 gold each. (Best get several if you can!)
* drag the Rally Scroll from you pack to your action bar just like you would a potion.
* now when someone puts up a Rally Flag you can port to it by clicking on the Rally Scroll on your action bar.

You need to know how to disable your PvP flag.

* Once again Fairbella has written an excellent article: How To Disable Pvp For A Pve-only Game Experience. Also If Your Raid Leader Asks You To.
* Please read this article.

* Here are the steps to disable the PvP flag:

* In the game press the ESC key to bring up the menu
* Choose:
* Settings
* Interface
* Combat
* Uncheck the PvP Autoflag
* Click Apply
* Now right-click on your character portrait and check PvP: Default -> Default

I HIGHLY recommend you set up Ventrilo so you can hear the group/raid leader's instructions...

Akouna comes to Telara

The gods are mighty. But.... the gods are unpredictable. I know this from personal experience. Let me explain. Oh, I probably should introduce myself. I am Akouna. I was born in Greater Faydark. Set amidst the emerald canopy of the grandest forest on all of Norrath, the tree city of Kelethin was my home. But I was restless. I had to see what wonders the world contained. So I became a wanderer. I crossed the Frostfang Sea to visit the city of New Halas. It was ther while trying to find a way into the Keep of Retribution for Snarf Frostfoot I was ambushed and killed.

Now you might expect that to be the end of the story, but as they say, truth is stranger than fiction. I don't know how it happened. Perhaps the messenenger of the gods of the Vigil was lost. Mayhap the gods sent him to me for some other purpose. Whatever the case I was brought from Norrath to Telara and Ascended.

It pleases me to think that my renown had become known to the gods. I like to think that the gods felt that my prowers would aid in the defeat of Regulos...
