Some thing to replace Defiance?

  Been playing Defiance pretty much exclusively. But I am on my second time through the story line so I've been looking for a new game. My problem is I absolutely love the combat in Defiance. Such a very nice change of pace to spray the monster with an Uzi. To be honest I am having a very very hard time finding some thing to replace Defiance.  Any suggestions are welcome.  First or second person shooter. Preferably a mmo with a nice long story line.  I'm not very much into the PvP aspect at all. 

I've been playing EvE: Dust 514. First person shooter/mmo.

You play in the same sandbox world as the rest of the EvEverse only rather than piolting out in the far reaches of space you are the ground team for planets that are being explored. The coolest thing about it is that decisions and battle results on the ground directly influance politics and economics in both games. Not to mention your buddies up in space (EvE Online) can directly help you.  If a player in EvE Online is in position within 100km of a district satelite above a planet with a ship loaded with weapons and ammo capable of firing at planets, the player can support his or her side of the Dust 514 battle if there is a battle currently taking place and a Dust 514 player has designated a target for the ship to fire upon.  

You get all the perks of joing the same corps etc as the pc players, you can buy and trade with each other and you can chat between console/pc. Interesting story imo. It's free on the PS3 so might be worth checking out.

 That looks pretty fun Soren but unfortunately my daughters off from work and she's using the PS3. 

Borderlands and Borderlands 2

Try Fallen Earth. It is free to play and actually has a pretty decent community.

I Beta tested Fallen Earth, its pretty good, but not a genre I care much for.  You might like it, if you dig Defiance, however.

Firefall should be releasing sometime soon.  It's a 3rd person shooter MMO with a more of a PvE focus iirc.

Not an MMO but between Mass Effect 1, 2 and 3 and replaying with different classes and such, it could tie you up for a long time.  I highly recommend.

 Been leaning more towards an MMO but I do in fact have the Mass Effect series.  Going to try the ones every one has suggested. If nothing else I should have fun trying them all out. Oddly enough one of the first ones I tried was Planet side 2. I've never been one for fps. Mainly because I'm REEEEAALLY bad at them and after about an hour of getting zero kills and being killed at a very rapid rate, I decided that I just wasn't cut out for FPS. Still I figured I would at least give Planet side 2 a try. After all it's free.  Now I'm hooked lol. Absolutely love being a combat medic. I've always loved being the healer in most mmo's and I seem to fit in perfectly as a combat medic. People calling out "MEDIC" and I run head long across a battle field with bullets whizzing by and mortars exploding, while aircraft soar past strafing the ground. I still tend to die a lot but it's hilarious fun. 

 I have to say though. If GW2 had applied a map and territory advancement like Planet side 2 I would easily still be lost in the WvW of GW2.  Arenanet should just take a weekend and play Planet Side 2. I think if they did they would come away with some fantastic ideas for there next WvW map. 

Hah! I was going to recommend Planetside 2 but you mentioned you didn't like PvP. Glad you're digging it as it really is an amazing experience! I agree that it's much deeper than GW2 WvW yet there is something about WvW that keeps me coming back. I just really like large scale combat in GW2 for some reason.

EDIT: My wife and I just started playing Defiance but we're having a lot of trouble with it. It seems that whenever we go in to an instance we get separated. She winds up in a different instance then I do and sometimes our group even gets broken. Furthermore, when she tries to switch to my instance it locks up her client about half the time. This happens frequently enough to greatly detract from the fun.

 When I first started Defiance I started it with a friend. I know in the beginning story line instances your suppose to do it alone...... at least that's what me and my friend theorized. Because no matter what we tried we couldn't do them together. Only time I've been able to co-op a instance was by choosing the co-op missions. But by the time I tried that my friend had already stopped playing Defiance. In the guild I'm in on Defiance I know they are always asking "need more for daily co-op." So it must be possible to just a co-op as a party.  I personally don't know how to do it sorry. Just know it's possible.
