(Thank Denji for pointing out the Team Legacy guides, they're good!)
So we're sieging a keep, and two or three people are operating rams. There are so many of us at the gate that guards are dying in about a second when they respawn. Should you attack the gate with your skills, or...?
From the Team Legacy guide:
"In the first beta weekend, a flame ram would deal between 8000 and 9000 damage per hit on a 5s cooldown, or between 1600 and 1800 dps. In terms of the numbers of melee attackers this accounts for, this means that for every flame ram on a door, you'd need ten players to equal the damage output. Wording another way, for every (10 * <number of rams>) players who stop bashing the gate, ram(s) will have to run for 5 more seconds. Typical keep assaults will have 2-4 rams running, means you can move 40-80 players away from the gate and it only costs about 10 seconds of ram time. "
The guide advises blocking reinforcements by intercepting defenders quite far away from the gate. It reminds me of my postern defense days in WAR. Good read: http://teamlegacy.net/_/gw2/melee-in-keep-assaults-reinforcement-prevention-r526
