Help Wanted: Join the Gaiscioch Magazine Team!

Greetings Everyone!

In March of 2014, we launched our First Gaiscioch Magazine. Since then we've published several issues packed with feature stories, interviews, guides, short stories, and more. We gained quite a following and more than 5,000 people read each issue. This magazine has opened doors of opportunity to us that previously were inaccessible. It is a piece of the Gaiscioch community and gives us a voice to the gaming industry at large.

This magazine only works through the help and support to make this happen. Are you a budding journalist or graphic designer? Do you have the ability to read and edit text? Have you had experience conducting an interview? Are you a hobbyist in-game photographer? Then we want to hear from you. 

Join the Magazine Team:

This will be an amazing opportunity for many of you who need portfolio pieces, work examples, or just the chance to conduct an interview with a developer. If you don't have the time to commit but would like to contribute we will be collecting member submitted pieces as guest writers for the magazine so feel free to write something up and submit it to us for review. 

Format:

The Gaiscioch Magazine is a Quarterly digital publication distributed online in a web viewable format, Downloadable PDF, and as ebook for Kindle, iPad, and Android devices. Additionally all articles are posted on our Gaiscioch Magazine site at http://gsch.info/mag

Advertising & Pay 

Advertising will be entirely on "Exchange" basis and will not be paid for. We will accept in game prizes and contributions for our public community events only. This will be entirely run as volunteers and nobody will be making anything off this magazine. This will be used as a hobbyist publication and be distributed free of change.

I'm interested and will help in any way I can.  Just need to know what kind of content we're looking to have in the magazine i.e. what types of stories, images, reviews etc etc....  I guess I would need to know "What" I would be working on or what you're looking to have "In" the Mag.

I would love to join for mag I'm best at proofreading and writing it so just let me know if u need any help on those

I'd love to participate Fog, but I'm a full time student, plus a part time burger flipper. Can you explain a bit more what you're thinking those of us who'd like to participate but don't have much time could do? 

I'm developing my professional writing portfolio and would love to learn to do ebooks. I wrote regularly for TORWars.com until Real Life attacked, and I had to take time off for health issues. However, most of that has settled back down to a dull roar, so I have more time to pick up some volunteer activities again. I can write and edit, but I am artistically impaired. After working with patients for 20+ years, I have no problem talking to people, and I would love the chance to interview folks.

Would love to help out in any way I can.

I have some experience with Adobe photoshop and would love to help in any way i can.

Artist, and visual arts. Not much but from a visual point of view maybe I be able to help I'm no master but I believe I have a eye for it.

I have put together newsletters and the like for our university (print and digital) and written and edited quite a few documents, articles, etc. My minor was in creative writing and I do quite a lot of professional writing for my job as well. If it's relevant, I'm currently getting a master's in project management... when I've worked on newsletters in the past, I hadn't approached them quite so formally, but I could definitely pull together some charts, structures, workflows, etc. for this :-)

I have experience as an editor, but the first meeting is on a Wednesday night and I will be unable to attend. 

It says here the meeting is on Jan 8, but the Cennard notes say Jan 7 -- can you please clarify which is correct?

Edit: Fog clarified that the meeting is on Jan 8.

Would love to be a part of this!  I am a former educator turned stay-at-home mum who games on the side ;). I have experience with proof reading, editing and page layout.  I would also love a chance at writing!  I plan on attending the meeting and will gladly contribute in any way needed.  

I would consider detailing out some of my in game journeys and adventures if you guys wanted.  Or some other interesting in game things you can do or try.  Its been a while but it could be similar to what I have on my blog from a few years ago: http://www.allthingsrobwild.blogspot.com/ except it would likely focus on just one character.

I hope to be at the meeting tonight, but I have a bad headache right now from the epidural shot I had in my back this afternoon. If I don't make it, that's why. However, I'm still very interested!

Hello there!  

I can edit.  I've got an academic background.  I also used to review books for the Speculative Book Review.  I am a mod at SFFWorld (a sci-fi, fantasy and horror book forum) and am a new editor for their short story anthology.

I know I am a day late for this, but my GPU decided to conk out so I'm using my husband's computer until the new one I ordered comes in.  I don't always have access to a computer at the moment.

For some reason, I got a degree in journalism with a leaning toward magazine writing.  Don't know why.  I just did.

Would love to join from a small corner writeup / screenshot artisan standpoint!

So cool!  I actually work for a printing company and do a bit of graphic design.  If I can help with the layout or design of anything let me know.  I do own copies of Illustrator and Photoshop.

I can do something for the magazine, but nothing GW2 related as I'm not involved in that game (at least no content creation, I can edit GW2 stuff). I can write and edit, I have some photoshop skills, and I'm currently an art student, so I am happy to contribute in any way that I can with that skillset!

Sorry I got back too late to be present at the meeting on the 8th, but would be happy to contribute writing (particularly research articles or, at the other extreme, creative pieces like 'filk', etc).

I spent 25 years as a publication specialist.  I've taken publications from an idea to writing and editing and through the printing process.  I would love to help out any way I can.

If you can use any editing or proofreading help let me know. I've worked in this area on and off over the years.

If there's any other way I can help I'm open to hearing about it and doing what I can!

I'm alive, just got swamped with life. My family got asked to take in a French exchange student--he was part of a group of about 30 who came over to visit for 11 days. What the parents didn't tell the program director (which meant I wasn't advised, either) was that their son is a high-functioning autistic kiddo. He was absolutely adorable to host and unbelievably loving, but he also required an enormous amount of attention, patience, and work. It was a fascinating experience for all of us. He hadn't seen as much snow in Paris as we got in PA, so he went out and had a great time building a snow fort with my kids and throwing snowballs. His high school classmates clearly did not understand how to deal with his social limitations (to be fair, they've not been taught), so I ended up being 'bully monitor' when he was with the group. On top of that, we got dumped on with snow--18.25 inches last week along with a few other ice/snow storms. This created all sorts of interesting changes in the students' itineraries. I spent the 11 days feeding 3 teenagers and learning as much as I could about working with autistic kids to make sure our 'French son' had a good experience with us and in the US. We spoiled him rotten. :D  The only gaming I got in was a bit of Sims Freeplay and a round of Mouse Trap which he adored. Needless to say, the only writing I got done was a single article that a client ordered.

In the 'small world' category, we discovered that our exchange student is our 9th cousin--we all descend from the Cady line. He also shares the same birthday (albeit different years) with my daughter.

Anyway, that's where I've been the last 2 weeks.

I've always wanted to do a video-game/MMO cultured Comic Strip for a Magazine.  Is this something you folks would be interested in for the Magazine?

We are in fact looking for a comic artist :)

I'm rather new to the family, and my daughter is getting married the end of June, BUT I've done layouts for print publication, mainly our ballet studios Nutcracker program. So if you are in need of any graphic layout work let me know. Preferably after June though, as I imagine I'll be rather consumed with her wedding!

I've got good chops in everything but the drawing category.  If only stick figures were premium!  Happy to help out in whatever way is needed.

I went ahead and applied for ya Fog, I have previously written for a couple online publications  (most notably Rift Junkies back in my Rift days) and have some editing experience.

Right now my schedule is busy, so I haven't been in MMOs much this last month, but if you could use some editing help I can probably do that in between other things.  Should I have more free time to play I may see about writing some articles as well.  Feel free to let me know if you have anything you want me working on in specific (I can write, but the limited free time with work right now means it may take a longer time for me to do anything of the sort.)

Hey Everyone,

This past issue has been really hard for our team to complete. We've had several of our key magazine team be taken away for real life issues and we're managing with a very skelleton crew. I'd like to thank those that are working overtime to fill the gaps, but what we need more than anything right now is more volunteers.

We need writters and editors more than ever. If your willing to help out either by writing a topic you decide or going after a topic we decide or if you willing to be a second set of eyes and proofread content we could really use you right now. 

This magazine is a very unique feature of our community and without help it will not be as phenominal as it has been in the past going forward. We need your help!

You know you want to help.  Yes, you do!  Make it so I'm NOT driving Fog nuts about things and getting to the poing of crossed eyes.  ROFL

Yes, Issue 7, was a bit frustrating to get through, but it looks really awesome!

Come join the awesomeness.  It is the reward for sweating out something to write and the frustrations of editing.  Seeing your work and others in a polished magazine form is well worth it.  We really need more people to help with editing for sure.  Our editing side explodes when even one person winds up out due to real life.

Really think it was be neat to see a piece around the new quest for a legendary weapon and the triumphs and pitfalls one goes thru on the quest for one.

We'll need someone who has shared that journey to write it :). I agree that would be a cool story.

Id would love to help, althou my time is limited, once i get a schedule going all fits in.

I like a lot ingame photography, finally went FHD so i guess i could help on ther, on the otherside im colorblind so i might need some color cheking :P

Also i used to write a lot, thats how i got into mmorpgs mainly, because of RP, my english grammar is not what it used to be, but i think it is understandable,

Is there any place i can send you guys past short stories or tales to see if it is of any use?

To finish i knos adobe at basic level on video editing, illustrator and PS, on this last 2 i can see at the magazines you already excel my abilities nonetheless id love to help

Hey Rogue we're always looking for Writers. Covid kinda threw a wrench in things but it's still a great publishing platform we can use to get articles out :).

I have some experience as a writer and will be going to PAX West next week (yeah I know it's going to be a little risky but I'm vaxxed). If you're interested I can do a write up on some of the things I see. There's an interesting panel on the future of the MMO industry on Friday which I'm hoping to attend.
