I was on the fence about this game during the betas. I liked it well enough, but I wasn't sure I was going to sub it. What made the difference was the fact that Gaiscioch is there, and I always enjoy chatting and playing with guild members. After one week, I'm enjoying the game a great deal, and the presence of the guild has a lot to do with that. I haven't even had a chance to do AvA yet, but my Templar just hit level 11 and my Dragon Knight level 10, so I'll be there.
Overall, I'm happy with the game. There are some things I'd change, but aren't there always? These are:
1. Phasing. Not being able to go back and help friends and family, or guild members, because I'm at a different point that they are, has been unsatisfactory. I can see why they might worry about people abusing the ability to repeat quests, but there are ways around that. You could, for example, allow someone to 'guest' with party members in order to go back and help with a quest they've already done. You could even limit it to maybe three times per quest if you want. Or progressively knock down the XP rewards for repeated quests, so after the third time or so you don't get any, but can still help friends who might be at an earlier point in time. And so on. All kinds of ways to address this.
2. Enchanting and Leatherworking are slow in terms of resource acquisition. With enchanting it makes sense, but leatherworking should be on par with tailoring and blacksmithing. Any animal that has a hide should be skinnable for scraps of rawhide or whatever.
3. Guild store. Needs a lot of work. The interface is very rudimentary, and at the very least you should be able to search by item name. The search results seem sporadic and unpredictable.
4. Fighting over resources. This is one thing I do not miss from older MMOs. Maybe I'm spoiled by GW2, but I hate standing at a resource node or chest, getting attacked by a mob and, while I'm fighting it, having someone else swoop in to get the resource. Already I've seen people arguing over it in general chat, with each calling the other person a ninja or whatever. This, in my opinion, is a step backwards for ESO and it is unfortunate.
Again, I'm enjoying the game a lot. Those are the issues I'd highlight if I was asked to pick a handful of things I'd like to see addressed in updates. It's nice to see the guild active in ESO and I've been enjoying the chats.
