Hey everyone,

Hey everyone,
I just wanted to poll the family to see what classes everyone is running.
So far the poll is as expected.
1. Sorceror
2. Templar
4. Dragonknight and Nightblade
I'm kind of surprised. I expected more DKs
Dk = Master Class. ;)
I might be biased though. ;)
Interesting turn of events, the Nightblades have come back to tie for the lead with the Templars.
DK's are still the minority though.
Umm...all of them. 2 Templars, 1 Sorceress, 1 Nightblade & 1 Dragonknight
Since you can only pick one class in the poll, altoholics like myself have to nominate a "main" toon, which might not be a true reflection of which classes are being actively played other than the one nominated. I chose Templar but I also have three Dragonknights. I'm not even sure whether my Templar will actually be my main -- I'm still road-testing a few different classes to get an idea of which one(s) I like the most.
I'm playing one of each but picked DK as main for the vote. Right now they are all too low level to make any real distinction and I am having fun no matter what I'm playing!
I'm a templar, I shall heal everything I couldn't heal in a year playing Guild Wars 2. No trinity? More like Glass Cannons vs PTV fest!*
*This is a joke, I don't mean to start a heated argument about Guild Wars 2. I love that game. Ok? Put the gun down.
Yep...Tyrra's an altaholic. :)
I can't say which one is my main. Sort of a toss up, as usual, with 2...Raf Longshanks & Furly Longshanks...those 2 travel with me from game to game. Not sure why. Just can't shake em. Figure its some sort of inner need for continuity...or maybe they are just stubborn.
But that Sorcerer and Nightblade do call to me also...
It's hard to go past the flexibility of the Templar. But I went DK. Already played Templar too much on the PTS.
I have a Sorc and a NB - sorc is the main at the moment but that can all change at a given moment.
I have all of them, though I am focusing on my templar at the moment.
@Raf:
Indeed. :) There's a method in my madness though (at least that's what I tell people who notice the 3 dragonknights). I've got one in each faction. The non-Ebonheart dragonknights were chosen for their ability to survive my playstyle (no hand-eye co-ordination, easily distracted by resource nodes and other shiny objects) while still letting me look around the other factions' zones.
I didn't want to grind out 50 levels in Ebonheart before I could see what the other zones looked like. I'll be sticking with EP and Gaiscioch for AvA though, so the extra toons are just PvE tourists and map-carrying mules.
@ Tyrra
I may steal that idea from you...I wanted 1 of each class in Ebonheart (fixed that this morning by getting rid of the extra Templar) to be able to add to AvA whatever we need at any given time. Or to just play another class ( altaholics have the attn span of fungi at times)
But I'm also curious about the other lands...so maybe 2 more alts to fill that need.
I should also admit that when I caught sight of that Ring of Mara item in my bank today my immediate thought was "Hey, if I had two accounts, I could marry myself for the xp boost!"
My name is Tyrra and I'm an altoholilc.
Its a disease....I still have 17 alts in EQ2 & 9 alts in GW2...and those are just in the last 7-8 yrs.
Yep, 20-odd alts in WoW, too many to count in EvE, 7 in GW2.
Oh and I'm up to 4 Dragonknights in ESO now. Just created the 4th; an elderly blue Argonian named "Carries-the-Maps." I guess it's safe to say that she won't be my main though.
I'm quite enjoying my Sorc, although she's only low level. But I keep hearing people saying that they loved their Sorc until level 20-30 or so, and then they just couldn't progress through the content anymore compared to the other classes. I have no idea if that's valid or not - I thought the classes were reasonably well balanced, but all my toons are lowbies at the moment so maybe I'm missing something.
I've known several Sorcs well beyond 30 that don't seem to have an issue. There comes a time in ESO when you have to be creative with what you do and some people don't want to make a change. They wish to keep playing their character just like they always have, but ESO's design is to give you all the tools you need and then you pick the right tool for the right fight. Sometimes you just might have to heal yourself more than you like - there is a healing staff and other things a sorc can do to effectively heal or reduce damage.
If you don't wish to change - form the "I only do damage" sorc then you are going to have problems. I believe this can be a stumbling block with all the classes at one time or another. You get a lot of different skills and weapons to use - some are better for some encounters than others - it is a matter of learning these. If you look at the resistances that each race gets - then you can start guessing at all the different resistances that the mobs also get. As a small example - a fire staff isn't always going to be the best thing to use - but most sorcs love to use them because of the knockback - but the actual damage isn't going to be too good against things with fire resists. Lightning is a big line in the Sors skills - but anything with Shock resist is going to be better killed using another skill.
Adapt and survive is a great practice to adhere to - don't adapt and struggle is the adverse. It's up to you to figure out what will work. I've died a couple of times to certain mobs and then a light clicks on in my head and I go - golly gee whiz - why don't I try this. Then victory is at hand. If you are going to play just one way - and one way only - then there can be issues. But the same can be said of all the classes - imho.
@Morigana
That's a really good point, I hadn't thought of it that way so I'm grateful for the perspective. Now that you mention it, the negative feedback for the Sorc class that I've heard has come from MMO players who mostly play games that enforce the tank/heals/dps "holy trinity." I guess to them, using a weapon with healing properties is equivalent to wearing a chefs hat (costume, no stats) to a raid. But as you say, the traditional class builds have little relevance to ESO (and I really like that about it).
I agree with Tyrra, that's an excellent point Morigana! I didn't think about it like that, thank you, it's much appreciated!
Sorcerers may be better at those levels when it has full group support via AvA.
Not unlike a staff ele in GW2. I doubt I'll ever play my sorcerer anywhere else but AvA once she gets to 10.
A tank & a healer in EQ2 always made the Wizard / Sorc class shine.
I started as a Sorc and chose to go into healing staff spec....then after reading some forums I decided to switch to Templar due to it being a superior healing class...Although I am going to be horrible in AvA lol. I think I shall create a nightblade.
Spent a lot of time on Templar and DK during beta. Enjoyed them both, liked the DK a little better.
Now have a Nightblade to 35 and am loving it. It is configured for single target, damage from stealth DPS using dual wield.
Have not taken a Sorc past 15 but when I do will probably enjoy that too.
I am sure wthin months I will have one of each class, and not be very good at any of them!

Likely I will have a healing Templar as my main toon. Looking forward to having a working computer again soon and seeing folks in-game. (Moved in RL to the east coast. We think we have found the box with my computer.)
severe altoholic here! I picked Sorcerer for the poll but i also have 2 Templars,1 DK, 1 NB, and a bank alt. Now I'm trying to think what I want to make next! I'm already on my 2nd sorcerer since I deleted my first due to a campaign bug and she wasn't listed in any and couldn't join. I've already almost got my new one to the same lvl 10 since I put the ticket in and STILL waiting on a response. Oh well my main will either be my Sorcerer or Templar. I think...hehe.
