Tips I wish I'd known when I started ESO

Good list though, and nice find Wulfemeister.  I must remember to refer to this for the launch.

"Don't rush out of the tutorial area (the prison). Loot everything you can. You will end up with some armor, weapon, dozens of lockpicks, at least 1 racial motif book and all sorts of other loot."

I only played this past weekend, but I ran through the starter area on 5 or six characters and I don't remember any "racial motif book".  Maybe I just didn't recognize them in my inventory.

Crates, urns, carts, barrels.... check them all. I wound up with three racial motifs, a hand full of provisioning recipes, and a VERY nice staff.

Oh, and a glut of lockpicks. :)

I do worry for faction hits, but it doesn't seem to be present (or if so, it's minimal).

It's not just the starter area.. it's Cold Harbor in general.  During this final beta, I tried to complete the story quest where you return to CH to save Lyris, not knowing that it was bugged and I would become trapped (yay!).  I looted what was there without farming anything and I ended up with 3 new racial motiff books.

At launch, if you farm the CH starter area a bit, you can probably get a huge jump on the racial motiffs.  I've played every beta since invites were extended and the drop rate of racial motiffs is extremely low outside of CH.

From the last beta I found that they nerfed the drops of racial motiffs in the CH tutorial area, I'm afraid, as well the equipments drop/loots/finds. Luckly you can get nice amounts of lockpicks and nom-smithing materials. There is also the nasty bug where some instances have no loot at all and all urns/vases are empty :c
