ESO Unraveled video series on youtube

Hey all,

After figuring out how to use OBS to stream last weekend I found some free time this week to make a couple of videos on game mechanics and upload them to youtube. The first two videos are explaining what affects the damage of your abilities and basic attacks complete with demonstrations showing this is the case.

I'm going to make more and try to hit as many topics as I can by launch and then see where to go from there. I'll have links to my videos and my stream in my sig and I'll be streaming at some point this weekend so feel free to stop by and say hi.

I'm brand new to this stuff so I have a lot to learn so what I could really use is some feedback on the videos and their format.

Do you feel the videos are too long and slow paced and boring? Did I go into too much detail trying to show too many skills and explaining things too much? Or do you feel the opposite, that I didn't explain things enough and I should take more time? I had originally hoped to have the videos come in around 5 minutes a piece but I didn't want to cut out the explanations since that's the whole point of the video! Once I get a better editing program and better (read: any) editing skills maybe I can condense the content some, and at the least make it look a little more professional.

Any technical advice such as good (free) video editing programs or resources would also be appreciated. I also noticed that even though OBS was recording at 720p (and even when I had it record at 1080p) at 30 and 60 fps the resulting video file is very pixellated when there is movement or changes in the picture. Does anyone know if there are settings I can change to reduce that? I'm using pretty much the same settings in OBS as I do for streaming so maybe there is something I can increase to get a better quality video since I'm not limited by my upload speed.

Thanks for reading, now go watch them and come give me feedback on how to improve them.

Oh, and also reply here if there is something in particular you'd like to see a video on.

Thank you for the info. These videos are great and very easy to understand. I appreciate that you tried to limit the number of variables to only 1 per experiment.

Excellent video on damage.  Explained it in simple terms that even I could understand.  Can we make requests?  :)

I asked these questions in a different thread.   Might be an interesting topic?

Speaking of emperors, I have a few questions:

  • At which point is an emperor crowned?  I know that a faction has to own the five(?) keeps surrounding Cyrodiil, but is it automatic at that point?  Or is there some sort of coronation process that needs to happen?  Is there a delay between owning the keeps and ability to crown?...maybe to make sure that they can maintain control of the keeps?
  • Once an emperor is crowned, how are they dethroned?  If one of the five keeps is taken, do they stop being emperor instantly?  If they die in PvP?
  • Most campaigns are 90(?) days in duration.  What happens to the emperor status at the end of the campaign, does it reset?
  • If one faction is totally dominating a campaign and everyone else has gone to another campaign, what happens to the emperor status outside of that campaign?  I assume they are normal players in other campaigns and will not continue to gain experience in the emperor skill lines?
  • Can the emperor gain experience in the emperor skill lines via PvE in Cyrodiil?  Or is it only battle?  I also assume that in order to gain experience in that skill line, the player has to be in Cyrodiil?
  • Is there some sort of map marker displayed when the emperor is active?  If not, there should be.  :)

Good videos - very good information to keep in mind - particularly concerning the ability damage video.

Thanks!
