Is a Stamina based build suicide in PvP

I didn't get all that far in last weekends Beta so this question is based on bits from a few threads I have read, so I may be concerned over nothing. I am hoping one of you folks in the awesome Castle taking video can clarify it :D

I am asking because I was thinking of a Templar Stamina build.

There is a lot of CC in the game, it is usually waved away as not a factor because everyone can break a stun/lock by useing 50% of your Stamina.

- Is that 50% of your current Stamina or your Max Stamina?

It would seem at first glance that you then need to have the relevant 50% of your stamina available in PvP at all times or get stunned with no escape. If this is the case wouldn't that mean a stamina based build can either only access half the Stamina bar so they can break free? in comparison it would seem that a Magic based build gets all the magic bar to fight with AND the ability to break a couple of Stuns

Wow, this is a very good point. I don't know the answer, but am looking forward to a reply here. Questions like this make us stronger as a guild. Awesome question.

Let me caution what I say with the fact that I've only spent one weekend playing PVP.

That being said, however, I didn't find myself in much 1 vs 1 or even small group vs small group PVP. Most of the time it was at least 12+ on each side. In those situations, unless I was under threat of having burning oil dumped on me or my health was low, I preferred to take the stun of a few seconds and save my stamina for weapon skill attacks.

There are a handful of long-term stuns in the game (6+ seconds). Most stuns and immobilizations seem to last 2-5 seconds.

I have to mention, though, that I was playing as a bow templar, and there were two factors that may not apply to others: 1) I was almost always with a group that involved melee players that would rush forward/past me to engage the enemy when I was stunned; and 2) as  templar I could heal myself after the stun ended.

I found that what was much more important than resource management was group management. We were much more successfull when we could get the whole group to move and attack together, instead of each rushing individually to the battlefield.

I find that PVP in this game is much more of a battlefield experience than a 1 vs 1 or small group arena type experience.  A LOT can be accomplished by sneaking around enemies, striking where they don't expect it, and setting up ambushes, especially if you use seige equipment in an ambush.

To break cc its 50% of your over all stamina, meaning with a full bar you can only break twice.

I didn't get a go at PVP the last beta but I think that it is going to depend on your characters build more than anything else.  In the build that I'm working on for my Templar (here on tamriel foundry) two of my skills that I am going to trait is Forward Momentum to break cc/snares and Immovable Brute (stun immunity). These should make most cc a none issue. I'm sure other builds have similar traits for PVP. - M.
