Hi guys,
I just realized that I don't know what server will you (us) play? I am from EU and if the whole guild will be in US megaserver then it is useless for me. Will we be present on both or???
Thanks.

Hi guys,

I would assume the US server.. but I am more then willing to create on both
Think it is a safe bet that it will be the US mega server that Gaiscioch will be on, but you are free to create characters on both.
Considering that 82% of the family is in the USA, odds we are going to play in the US megaserver :3
US megaserver
Hm and are there no elders who would build the clan also in EU? I would welcome it. I didnt realise that all are US when I joined you :-). Maybe its time to extend to EU?? I could have chars on both but ping will be quite a big issue...
I wouldn't worry too much about ping, to be honest. I'm in Sweden and never had any problems playing on a US server in an MMO. I had about 110-120 in LOTRO (NY-based), 140/230 in SWTOR (East coast/West coast), and up to 225 in GW2 (Texas-based) and never noticed any lag, not even in PvP. If you're uncertain, try to ping the Zenimax ESO servers to get an idea of what kind of latency you'll have in game. Two IPs you can try are 198.20.205.40 and 198.20.205.42. My ping to both is 147 ms.
You can also check in game if you get a chance to play in a future beta. If you don't know how, open My task manager > Performance > Resource monitor > Network -- then check the box for eso.exe and the ping will be listed under TCP connections.
I love being gathered on one server rather than splitting up according to geographical location. Sure, lots of events will be scheduled too late for me, since i'm 6-9 hours ahead of most people, but in GW2 there are plenty of people in GSCH who play during their day = our evening, so I expect no different in ESO.

Hm, have both pings 46. Which is nice. I will have to think it through. Because I have also another friends and guild in Czech republic and Slovakia... We could try to move there all of us or not. I will see.
46 ping from Europe to US server? With a good chance that server is either in Texas or West Coast? That is pretty sweet! If that stays as it is, make characters on both. No reason you can't be in more than one guild.
welcome to my world :D from Australia we always have a higher latency than those in the US, though most of the time we have had West Coast servers to play on, it might be a bit interesting if they are East Coast. I suspect you will have a better ping from Europe to East Coast than we will.
For me the community I play in has a lot more to do with my enjoyment of an MMO than 100ms vs 40ms latency
On the plus side it gives me an excuse to PvP enthusiastically while getting snotted :D
You don't pick a server to play unless there is something changed all of a sudden. Last I knew it was a setup like a cloud network and not server isolated at all. Where is the info from Zenimax talking about separation rather than a cloud network?
There will be 2 separate mega servers: one in the USA and the other one in Europe. This will help to prevent lags and delays. If there is only one megaserver in the USA, European players will not be able to get the same connection speed as players from the USA. Two Megaservers are solving this problem and nobody will get technical advantages. Anyway ZeniMax allows you to choose. Players from Europe will be able to play at US megaserver.

I would not worry to much about joining the US megaserver from overseas. if you are in EU you will probably have 100-150ms delays tops. AU with most likely see 150-200ms. When you compare that to an average of 30-70ms for east coasters and 70-100ms for west coasters.
I think you will find it's not going to be a major difference. That said try it out. Use the Weekend Betas to test your connections. So far I have only seen weekend testing done on the US server, but I could be wrong with that statement.
I know of quite a few players that have tested ESO with us from EU and AU without any complaints of feeling like they are lagging during play.
That is heartening :D, not that it will stop me playing anyway lol
I'm in the UK and happy to play on either US or EU megaserver.
One thought I had though was regarding the day/night cycle where EU players might find it difficult to do stuff which has to be done at night, but saw in a Q&A answer that ESO's day/night cycle is only 5 hours so no worries there!
There are plenty of us from the UK (last time I looked at the demographics, I think it was 68 members but it has almost certainly gone up since). The EU megaserver is being hosted in the US at launch anyway, as the European data centre is not yet ready, so you may as well join the US 'shard' with the rest of us :) If the ping proves to be impractical, which I doubt, you could always switch later - that said, you would need to start a new character as, once a server location has been selected, that particular alt is tied to it.
The EU megaserver is located in North America just like the US megaserver. There's no obstacle to you rolling on the US megaserver with the guild (I am in Europe too)
Right now its in NA, but they will be moving it to Europe one of these days.
I have a buddy in Germany that plays fine on the US server when beta was going on (PVP and PVE) so I wouldn't worry about lag really.
Megaserver choice is now a field on the launcher settings:
Launcher Settings - Megaserver
and that choice has just messed up my install, having to re-download the whole client!! waiting for Zenimax support to call me now to see if i can get around it any way since i have the PTS client still.. and had the BETA client all patched up and ready to do yesterday.
Came on today changed the settings to NA from EU and it started patching before i could exit the client to change my folder name... exited changed my folder name so it no longer had the EU on the end and restarted the client.. no luck still wants to download all 22+Gb :(
Turns out i can edit the Platforms.xml file in the client folder so the eso.exe goes right to the NA servers while the patcher does its downloading in the background.
Well I don't mind playing on US server. I just hope there will events for EU players as well in Guild. Perhaps not same amount than with US players, but at least some now and then.

There are. Many of them. Gaiscioch covers NA, EU and Oceanic timezones when it comes to events, and the event leaders are coordinated for exactly that purpose. Not everyone who lives in the US timezones plays in US primetime (some work odd hours, some are night owls, some are retired or work from home and choose their own schedules), so there are always plenty of people and events available.
