Thoughts on class balance

Not to reveal anything from beta testing, but based on play videos like the recent anchor fight, it's obvious to me that there could be some serious class balance issues. Namely, bows from stealth one-shotting opponents and dragon knights benefitting from both powerful magic and heavy armor. I recognize that elder scrolls is all about giving you options, but Im currently worried that ESO is either going to follow GW 2's obsession with overpowering warriors or be the next World of Roguecraft with nightblades one shotting you from stealth.

I don't think so. It has been stated many times by devs that having every skill be powerful was a design decision. In other words all classes have some powerful moves, and thus are quite possibly well balanced against each other.

By the way, they mention in the video that the archer was actually a Templar, not a Nightblade.

All games have issues with class balance in the beginning and I'm sure that if something is outrageous, then it will be dealt with in a series of updates.

As annoying as it is to constantly tweak your charecter because of balance issues, it is the least of my worries when it come to ESO.

The video left me worried about the viability of melee combat. Paul Sage did address that concern specifically in his Tamriel Foundry Q&A mentioning that they are working on melee improvements. He also claimed that they did not purposefully play mostly as ranged in the video and he only thought about that fact himself as he read public reaction on forums. I doubt they want every player using bow or staff... although that is what they demonstrated.... nah, they have time yet to get things sorted eh?
