AvA for the newly minted 10?

I'm still making my way to 10.  Too many alts, too much to do (explore, craft, harvest) and too little time.  That said, when you get to 10...any suggestions for where to go/ what to do?  My time in AvA during Beta was little more than wandering around on a huge map by myself.  Occasionally pugging along with a group with no idea of mission, tactics or goal.

The Gaiscioch raidcall will go along way to helping clear things up in that repsect....but do any of you have anything to share on what a newly minted 10 needs to take care of first?

Also, I was thinking about a true scout class.   Small woodelf maybe with max points in stealth for scouting puposes.   But is there really a need for real time scouting?

I will suggest you to do two things:

The first one is do the AvA tutorial, it explains very well what is each siege and what is it used for, also it gives you lots of green coins (alliance points?) and a basic forward camp.

The second one is do AvA with our commanders, either Pookah and Kaytlin are excelent at handling newbies and make veterans out of them, very patient, they know a lot, and very fun to run with. I was level 10 in AvA and left level 12 by doing a couple of missions. Being on raidcall, as you said, it's very important. Both post their events on the callendar, Pookah runs in the afternoons (mostly) and Kaytlin in the mornings.

Ditto

And keep an eye on the calendar.  There are actually three scheduled AvA events tomorrow, one of which is specifically for new AvA ready players.

Scouts were awesome to have in PTS and I imagine that will hold true here as well.  Once things settle anyway...  ATM folks are still working their way up to 10, and there's also quite a few who aren't even really considering AvA until level 30-40 because of the strength of the guards at resources and keeps.

Oops, forgot to give my suggestion: If you want to be a scout, then you need to learn Cyrodiil's map, the keeps/resources and the quickest way between them all without the travel network.  Learn where the cliff walls would block your path, etc.  That'd be my suggestion.

Level 30-40 for AvA?  Is is really that much of an issue, Freya?

Or would it be like running an up level in GW2?

I was doing quite well in AvA at level 10. I even got a few solo kills, and I'm not that great of a PVPer.

I hopped into the AvA tutorial as soon as I hit 10 and had a blast.  You do best in a group of some description, even the small scouting ones are too much fun and amazingly successful often as not.  I didn't have any real problems but I have been a fan of pvp forever in other games and dying is nothing more than growling a little, dusting off and heading out to get even!

I think if you enjoy pvp it doesn't matter when you go in after 10 and the game seems to do a good bit to equalize we wee ones against the big ones.

As above, do the tutorial, it is a good bit of points and some free cash as well as the basics you need to get going.  After that, the boards give varying degrees of quests, from scouting to out and out player kills to complete... more exp and cash as well as those precious little completion points (Green token/point things). Great set up all around and hope to see you in there!

I have never experienced PvP before and don't mind stating I'm a little scared and a lot excited about the expected fun & adventure campaigning with the family!

Thank you for the post Raf!

You know, Tuz...I had never been a pvp'er before GW2.  But that games WvW is similar to the AvA here.  And that type of PvP will make even the most devout hater of pvp a fan.

Running with a group on a voice server.  With shared goals, tactics and the "we're a team" type play against groups  of enemies playing the same way?

Yeah..its a blast.  And, I think the biggest thing that most new pvp'er worry about is dying.  But like Natisha says..its doesn't mean anything.  Dust yourself off, repair and off you go again.

*chuckles softy* To clarify, since some question my PvP ability.  Yes, you can kill Vet rank 10's at level 10, however, one cannot do that if they get one-shot by a resource guard, and if you've not noticed, the wise enemy will use their guards for cover.  At level 30-40 there will be no safe haven for the hunted.
