The Lost Vale: Part 8 - Middle Wing: Sechar, The Darkpromise Chieftain

By: Damihdez

This one is going to be a short one, just because I want to devote an entire entry to the final boss. From the Darkpromise Beast, continue along the path and clearing out trash mobs. The ones you want to kill first here are the Darkpromise Hierophants.

Eventually, you will get to a plateau area with a big purple gateway and two obelisks. You will have to break the obelisks to trigger Sechar, the Darkpromise Chieftain. While you do, an endless stream of critters will start vomiting forth from the portal, and it will not stop until the boss fight is over. When the second obelisk is close to falling, everyone but the tanks should go back down the stairs and spread out. Sechar will burst out of the portal and the tanks should grab him and get him right at the edge of the stairs, then turn him so that his back is facing down the stairs.

Sechar is another two-phase boss. First he will activate an Aura or Pain, which is an AoE that deals more damage the closer you are to him. At this point, all the ranged folks should be far away and spread out. After 30 seconds of this, he will switch to an Aura of Pleasure which deals LESS damage the closer you are to him and each other. So then the ranged clumps up kind of close to him and the tanks just continue to suffer. 30 seconds later, he switches back to Aura of Pain. For this reason, I recommend you have someone keeping watch of the time and call out on vent "Everyone out" or "Everyone in".

It seems that the Aura of Pain is more significant than the Aura of Pleasure, so try to be cautious with that in mind. It is easier to recover from a higher tick or two from the Aura of Pleasure than it is from the Aura of Pain.

In the event that your healers or tanks go down, have your runner make it back across the little bridge. Sechar should reset, but the little junk-spawn will NOT. They will chase, so your runner will have to turn and kill them eventually.

Keep at it, and Sechar's head will pop. Go turn in the quest to Caledor Mournfire (who came by just to watch, the lazy bum), and pick up the last part.

One more little part and you'll be done!

To Be Continued! Next Episode: One Really Big Bundle of Frustration. Cheers!
