Been nearly 15 months since anything was posted in here, and since there's a new group going on, I figure (with the insistance of one of the players) that I would get this active again so Fog wouldn't have wasted his time adding this in back in 2013.
So, to start it off, Thror Thunderfist asked if anyone played tabletop RPGs ( http://gaiscioch.com/tavern/gaiscioch_discussion/post_93803.html ), which brought back memories of another post at the end of 2012 ( http://gaiscioch.com/tavern/gaiscioch_discussion/post_47764.html ). So, I tossed my name in this one as well, only instead of a player, I offered up to be the DM with the system being the fairly newly released 5th edition of D&D. After a rocky beginning, not knowing if I would get the number of players I felt was needed, a person having to drop, and postponing the game a week or two, we got our first session done back on April 1st, 2015.
The characters:
Thror Thunderfist (played by Thror Thunderfist), a dwarven paladin.
Rethan Telvanni (played by Pyrrhic), a half-elven warlock.
Temar Gundrick (played by Jairone), an air aasimar rogue.
Xewyn (played by Radiologikal), a longstride shifter ranger.
Thia Nailo (played by Briseadh), a wood elf cleric. [Newest addition, hasn't played yet]
The characters were sent to Easting, a village in the Cormyr region of the Forgotten Realms, to investigate rumors of a terrible plague that can turn its victims into demons. Upon arrival, they met Sir Arveen, the only combat-capable person in the village, along with her squire Hendar, and Father Evendur, the priest (cleric) of the village. They were arguing about what to do with those infected with the plague (Arveen wanted to kill them all in the name of protecting the town [she was also infected], while Evendur wanted to cure them). Arveen brought the PCs to the barn next to the Thirsty Ox Inn, where all the infected people were being housed, with the intent of letting the PCs inspect the sick. Upon entering the barn, they were attacked by a few of the plague demons.
The fight was a brutal one, with Thror being badly injured (after a few of the demons broke their teeth upon his shield), and poor Temar taking a nasty bite that brought him to the doorsteps of death. Temar managed to pull through in the end, after all the demons were slain. The party captured a rather insane dwarf who had been trying to skulk through the shadows. They found out his name (Jakairn Sabrak), and also found the origins of the plague. They patched themselves up, found the missing component for the Cure Disease ritual that Evendur was wanting to cast, and prepared to continue their journey to eradicate the plague.
What will happen next?
