Hello Fellow Guildies!

For a while now i have felt the need to try writing a book. I myself have read many books but ccan never find a good writing style I myself enjoy and can write. I would like to ask everyone for any tips on writing a novel.

~Necro

PS- my main problem is "starting" / finding A way to start a book.

Necro,

Nanowrimo has some good resources that I've used with my students. The high school workbook is good for helping you plan out characters/plot lines. There are also many groups on the Nanowrimo site for aspiring writers - people who will read what you write and provide helpful feedback. I'm sure many here would also like to see your writing and cheer you on.

Best of luck! Writing can be such a rewarding process. If you are interested in self-publishing once you have finished your book, I recommend lulu

I would second that suggestion about NaNoWriMo:). Also, if you look online, there are groups that do similar events year around!

The hardest part sometimes to start a novel, is that we (at least I) tend to over-think everything.  So although I am all for having structure and a plan, plot lines, characters and the such, simply to encourage the writer in you to poke his head out, you might just wanna start writing without thinking so much about it.  The one time I had the chance to complete Nanowrimo, it is exactly what I did and ended up with 80 pages of a novel at the end. If you do so, do not keep on re-reading what you are writing, just keep on writing away for a while.  I find it is the best way for me to get the inspiration flowing anyways.
