What became of Aion?

Hello guildies!

So somehow, I missed the boat completely on the game Aion.  (Not sure if missing it was good or bad?)

Now that it's free to play, I was wondering if what server everyone played on? (Did/does the guild have a presence in that game?)

I was thinking of downloading it, and checking it out.  However, before I download the 30Gig game, can anyone comment on it?  (Good, bad, ugly).  I honestly don't know anything about it.  (I recall reading about it years ago, but this game seems to have come and gone in a blink of an eye).

I downloaded it once it became free as well. I don't think it is that bad of a game. The only problem is that like a lot of the older games no one seems to play it anymore. I haven't played it in a while either because I'm focusing on GW. The skills and the combat are pretty fun. The graphics are not too bad and the story scenes that they do are awesome. There's only a couple servers left I think and a lot of them are seriously focused on pvp. It's also a lot like WOW with different sides being enemies but if you pick one on your account you cannot pick the other :/ . The wing aspect is really nice but their solely aesthetic and you can only fly with they by being "ported", which means you pick a destination and the game flies you there. I liked it and would play if I had more time but out of the free games out now I like Tera Online a little more than Aion (even though the chat in Tera is horrible).

I'm playing right now, loving the new classes. Wings are useable. In the abyss and some higher levels you can fly, but limited. (get tired. ;)

I used to play it. I can't really say about how it is now but back then the only gripe I had was the combat system. It was trying for a GW2/TERA style combat but kept the original point and click aspect of it. It made every fight a fight to the death, often only with a tiny bit of HP left after EVERY FIGHT against a SINGLE opponent, combine this with the traditional quest and mob system and it was a recipe of frustration. But again, I can't say about how it is now.

Based on your comments, I've been reviewing Aion vs Tera videos online.   I believe I will check out Tera instead.

One reviewer stated they would prefer to pay their sub to Tera than play the f2p GW2.  I LOVE GW2, but until ESO comes out, I really need a back up game to play.  I think Tera might be it.

Are there any other games out there similar to Tera or Aion?

I believe Tera is F2P now. I played it quite a bit and it was very enjoyable. I'm actually patching it right now. Imagine GW2 style combat but With the Trinity, a Tank actually FEELS like a tank.

What server?  I'm still doing the intial download.   9 gigs to go. lol

My characters are on Ascension Valley. However I know alot of GSCH is on Celestial Hills. Don't know how many are still playing tho.

They're not active on CHills anymore.  The few that are semi-active w/TERA are spread out on different servers.  Its not a popular game with the family.  A lot of family are playing Dragon's Prophet and Neverwinter, as well as GW2 and quite a few are playing FFXIV:ARR but its just for a short time on weekends atm, still Closed Beta.

In my opinion those are pretty much the best games out right now lol. The only other games I would recommend that are free but are on a smaller and more animated style are Fiesta Online, Flyff, Cabal, Rappelz or Florensia. They are similar to games like Runescape or Mabinogi. Fiesta was a favorite of mine and their fun to play and not feel like you have to in order to keep up with everything.

I think Tera is a good choice though. It's really fun and has a lot of content but I don't think it comes close to GW2 lol

Tera has a WoW vibe going on.  heh.  I got a few levels into it, and did my first BAM.  I don't know if Tera is the right fit for me.  I can see why it's not a popular game with the family.  It's not a bad game, but it made me appreciate other games, like GW2, and Rift.

I think for now, I'll stick with GW2, Rift, and Neverwinter.  I like games where there are active guild members.  I've got a thirst for dungeoning.

I've been on Siel since Launch, but I've deleted and flipped sides too much.  Currently Asmo, but its just a couple of starter toons.  I was going to hook up with a guild there, but after I deleted my Elyos and switched sides, most bailed for TERA and they disbanded their Aion branch.  It was actually how I wound up here.

Just to FYI folks, I was messing around with a Muse/Songweaver and noticed that I'd totally forgotten about the Fast Track Server.  So from levels 1-50 you can play with anyone from other servers on the Fast Track server, as long as its the same faction, of course.

i havent played aion since 3.0 came out. it was ok then. not sure how 4.0 is now. it looked cool anyway, i do love their art... TERA i refuse to play on principle (since it's a stolen lineage III and i really wanted it to be lineage). i tried the beta on it and found the combat actually...boring. holding left click made my finger unhappy. i like the flow of GW2, the combat is smooth. i can only really focus on one MMO at a time, sometimes with a back up. current is GW2 with a FFXIV on the side...still curious about how ESO will turn out. i've heard good and bad things, unfortunately.

I never really enjoyed Aion, but I played Tera again back in April when GSCH got interested in it again.   I have three 60's on Mount Tyrannus.   I like Tera's combat a lot, but perpetually repeating dungeons is basically mandatory for gearing up in the endgame.  I am just not a dungeon player in any game. If Tera had a WvW equivalent, I'd play Tera all the time. 

I played Aion in beta and when it first came out, then got bored of the grind. Currently playing TERA with a dash of GW2. GW2 doesn't like my gfx card a lot of the time, which is frustrating.

I just started playing Aion again. The new classes are pretty fun. I am looking forward to the new end game content. We have Elyos on Tiamet and some Asmos on Siel if anyone wants to play.

Its just Radiologikal and I, but our Elyos guild is "Trees are for Hugging" (on Tiamet) and our Asmos guild is "Schism" (on Siel).
