Well I guess it was my turn. Account was hacked yesterday at some point and most of my stuff is gone....
The kicker is the scumbag actually deleted 3 of my toons (60,44,37) on top of it.....
Ah well, unless they can recover my characters that will be it for me in Neverwinter.
Wow, I was just surfing the web and apparently you're not alone. There seems to be a slew of accounts that are being hacked. With that in mind maybe I'll put my Neverwinter play on hold for a while to see if Crypt does any thing about it. I would hate to dump the amount of hours you've played into a game only to have it get hacked without the likely hood of the account coming back to me restored. Too bad because it's a fun game. Think I'll play defiance for a while and see how this plays out. Good luck to you though.
Hm, I wonder how they're getting into accounts. My worry is that I also have a lifetime Champions Online and Star Trek Online on my PW account. Neverwinter is the least of my worries.
edit: Decided that I'm changing both my email and password for Perfect World asap.

Yeah, when I lost my account I lost a rear admiral in STO that had zenn store ships and lockbox rares. It's a kick in the pants, thats for sure.
Volkoth, were you able to get most/any of it back? That's my main concern really, retrieving my toons and stuff.
Any idea of how they got into your account?
Not really, I didn't get any notification of an outside IP accessing my account for approval. I scanned my computer with various software and had nothing malicious found. I used different passwords on the account and my email.... So not really sure.
Hm, that is odd. Are you sure you were hacked? What did Cryptic say about it? IMO, it sounds like maybe something related to the recent exploit bans or database corruption, more than an account hack. Seems like I now remember hearing grumblings about data loss with some Neverwinter accounts, but I follow so many games, its hard to keep track of issues. Regardless of why, your stuff is gone, sorry to hear it. Hoping they figure out whatever it was, because I worry about my account in cases like this, its a YAHTZEE for anyone who gets into it.
hehe what did Cryptic say? Nothing..not a peep from them yet. Submitted ticket 5 days ago. Reading around on the forums and reddit, people are waiting weeks for a response. So I'm not really holding out much hope. I assumed it was hacking due to all my gems/zen being gone also.
Hackers don't usually delete characters, they're just after your stuff and have other accounts to get to. Plus if they manage to hang onto an account, existing characters can be put to use for various tasks, saves them the time of making a character. Especially those of the levels you stated. Something doesn't make sense. Other people are claiming the same type of issue? Interesting.
True, that's why I thought it was bit vindictive(?) that not only did they hack me and take my stuff that they deleted the toons too!
No, I haven't gotten anything back...in fact, PWE hasnt responded to the ticket I submitted when it happened. What was that now, two weeks ago?
There are several incidents on the forum about PWE deleting characters if the accounts were hacked.
Interesting. I don't think I've ever heard of a game company doing that before. Sure, via the EULA, they technically own everything on your account, but I don't think any company has gone so far as to delete characters from compromised accounts. Most will leave characters and items on perma-banned accounts intact, too.
Any solid proof or statements from PWE saying that this is their practice? I don't trust claims from people that post on forums or other places, most of the time they're not telling the entire truth. "I was hacked" is the #1 excuse made by players who were caught hacking or exploiting and lost their accounts as a consequence.

Still no luck on getting account restored?
Not even a response to my ticket.
Still no response? That's really, REALLY bad customer support! Glad I have stopped playing it. Doesn't really make sense to invest much time into a game that has a high account hack rate with customer support that hasn't responded to a ticket in over a week. It's very disappointing because it looks like a really fun dungeon crawl game. I was having a lot of fun with it so far. Only level 20 mind you but still. Guess I'll stick with Defiance for a while.
