Join the Defiance Saighdear on PS3

Hey Everyone,

Don and I will be sprayin and prayin in Defiance on PS3 and we're wondering how many of you would want to join up and form a Casual Saighdear. It will be a very casual approach. No recruiting, no scheduled events, just a casual when im on and your on we can go kill something together. Let me know if your interested.

LOL, Well I am trying to decide between PC or Xbox360

I think the game probably makes a better console game so I would go with the xbox if your interested. Unfortunately for me there were too many issues :( so will not be getting it. But if did play it I would do xbox. I used a xbox wireless controller with it and worked well

Not sure, since it appears I have to buy a copy (aka Buy to Play). I thought it was Free to Play, not sure I have the funds atm and I haven't ... well, I'll reply back to this tomorrow when I can talk about it more.

I am playing on the pc this weekend, mainly because that is what I got the invite for, but if others are playing on ps3 in a Saighdear in the future I am just as happy to buy it for ps3 instead. Will see how much I like it this weekend.

BTW, NDA was lifted at midnight. Feel free to babble about it.

I wasn't sure if the NDA was lifted for alpha, or just this weekend's beta. Anyhow... I've enjoyed playing, but can't buy anything until I land a job. /sigh Definitely want to see the show. I've only played on PC but it feels like it'd be great on PS3.

The NDA for alpha hasn't been lifted from what I have read on their forum, just beta, but Fog asked us not to discuss what we saw in Betas in another post so I won't talk about what I saw this weekend except to say I had a BLAST!! That is all I will say for now, although anyone interested there is a ton of video's out now and forums to read in, and game launches in less than 2 weeks. Problem though for me - I will probably be sticking with the PC version because whilst we only have one PS3, we have 3 PCs in the house, and my son played all weekend with me and he loves it too(grown up son, this is a M rated game). It is a shame the player base has to be divided between three platforms.

Just checked it out today. Looks pretty cool. I'll be picking it up for the old PS3 or PC, lol hell maybe both. Though my work time has voluntary changed as of late due to needing to take care of some one whom is recovering from cancer. So my play time will most likely be sketchy at best. More then likely from 11:30 pm till most likely 2 or 3 am EST. Wait.. so is this cross platform? Meaning if I get the PC version will I be able to play with you guys on PS3? I dont mind buying both but if I dont have to then I wont. Reason I prefer the PC is I'm hoping to hook up the Leap motion once it's released.

PS3 will not be able to play with PC or XBOX. I will be on PS3 Only. So if your playing XBOX or PC you may need to form up your own completely separate Saighdear. ATM I have 5 people for the PS3. Need 10 to call it an official Saighdear. Anyone else interested in playing with us on the PS3 only. I have played it and it is very similar to Borderlands meets Halo in 3rd person. Kinda reminded me of Section 6, Mercenaries, or Just Cause control wise. Don and I had some good fun this weekend running around the PS3 world slaying bugs. It's buy once play forever so it's not a huge investment. Our Saighdear will be casual non-structured. So if your joining us don't ask about promotions or ranks or anything of that sort. It's just going to be a social channel we can hang out in.

Sigh..wish i can play with u guys...i have a ps3 but ill prolly be playing on the pc..(low on funds and cant afford the internet) ive asked my neighbors if i can use there internet but my ps3 is to far away from there access point...so im stuck with computer gaming until i can afford the net again lol

I have a lot of love for Trion and I've been jonesing for another good MMO shooter since Tabula Rasa's inelegant demise, so I'm definately looking into playing this on PC as I do all my MMOs. It's kind of a bummer to hear that the PC and XBOX crowds won't be able to commingle with PS3ers though. If anyone on the XBOX/PC side of the fence wants to hook up, we should get something going on that side as well.

Yeah I just pre-ordered for PC for me and some one else. Sounds like there's a few getting it for PC so we should all get together. Not sure if there's ten of us but that's ok. It's not for ranks or points or nothing. Just a few friends getting together to lay down some hurt on some poor unsuspecting bugs. Fog are you planning on having seperate channels in Raid Call for PC, XBOX and PS3 in the 1101 channel? If so then thank you in advance.

I'll be picking it up for Xbox; been enjoying the beta all weekend. If anyone one else wants to meet up my gamertag is Devasqua.

I'll be playing on PC. I have some reservations from the time I spent in Beta.. but then I only played for a few hours... and it was fun. I'm anxious to see a wider variety of races introduced. Gunplay was fine but a little immersion into the non-combat side of things would be a nice addition (it may be there now.. like I said, I didn't play very long). All said I'm looking forward to April 2nd.

There wont be rooms for ps3 or xbox as both have their own internal chat methods.

If you're in the Alpha (I am not) and the NDA has not been lifted, then don't discuss the Alpha testing. However, the NDA was lifted for the Beta Weekends, Trion even sent out email about it, so yes, we can discuss the Beta weekend, share screenshots, blahblah to our hearts content, because they want us to.

Got some time to play this afternoon and... I'm hooked. I need to see where I can squeeze some money out to buy it. There are 3 reasons why I got hooked: #1: I lost just over 3 hours playing it. #2: The story is just awesome. The quests are well done: they give you a firm grasp of the story, and make you feel a part of it. The cut-scenes are good, too, but a little buggy, but I imagine they'll polish that up a bit. #3: Its made for the console and controller. Once I got used to using a PS3 controller again, I realized that this game was designed for the console. If you're trying to make a choice, I strongly recommend buying the console port. Pretty much it for now, I hit some bugs, but overall I really liked the gameplay, was much better than I anticipated and I'm sitting here right now, wishing I could hop on for a couple of hours again. ;) edit: changed some wording that didn't read like I meant them to be.

I have had my PS3 almost 5 years now and it is going a tad wonky with connection issues - as it fades in and out. I still use it as a Blu Ray player but most of my non PC gaming is on the Xbox. If I get it it will probably be on the Xbox since my son, daughter, and grandsons all play games on the X-box. Thanks to all your comments I just might try it out - and then decide if it will make a great gift for a few relatives :)

I've only played the game on pc and I did enjoy my time with it, but the ui didn't really seem to work all that well on pc also the chat seemed to be pretty close to worthless. That said, ya'll that have tried in on ps3, are those issues really present there? edit: also, I know you can turn off aim assist on pc, can you do that on consoles?

Nope, I commented in my previous thread about how this was really designed for the console and I would not personally buy it for the PC... if I had a choice between console or PC. (I don't want to make it seem like I was recommending not buying it for PC at all, if that's all a player had available.) If the PC version supports a controller, I'd recommend buying a Xbox controller, WIRED, not wireless.

Yes you can use a controller on the PC, I used the Xbox wired controller, just plugged in and go, worked flawlessly. I liked that I could use mouse, keyboard and controller interchangeably at any time.

I bought Defiance for the PS3 today, I went with the Wal-Mart pre-order because I want the gun that shoots lightning blots, not green globs of goo. Sadly, they didn't offer store-pickup, so I have no idea when I'll get it, it depends where they'll ship it from.

I wont be in till the 8th but once im in we'll get everything setup :)

I got my order email today from Wal-mart, looks like they estimate the 11th. Once the tracking comes online, I'll have a better idea of when I'll get it. On a related note: I also got an email yesterday from Defiance, saying that I had a special Ark Hunter rewards to claim. The part that concerned me was seeing that I have 24 hours to claim them... so does anyone have any idea what this is about? Is the Beta client supposed to work for us, which I assumed no, because we don't have our retail codes or whatever, not sure how this works with PS3 and our accounts. Anyway, here is the text of the email I'm talking about: REDEEM YOUR ARK HUNTER REWARDS You've earned special rewards for finding and redeeming Arkfall Codes during ark hunter training! Now follow the steps below to claim your in-game bonuses: 1. Launch Defiance™ 2. Open your Settings menu and select "Account," then "Link Account" (note: when you first boot up the game, the screen to "link account" should appear automatically). 3. Copy your unique code* from the "Link Account" screen. 4. Visit www.Defiance.com/linked and log in with your Ark Hunter Profile credentials. 5. Enter the unique code from your console and click "Link to your console". 6. Next time you launch the game (and after completing the tutorial), claim your rewards from the DEFIANCE STORE in your EGO Menu. 7. Yeah I might give this a shot on PS3 if you're still needing some folks. Now that I'm settled in I'll have some more playtime, and a shooter looks fun. Not saying I'm any good at shooters! If there's a way to shoot my own foot I'll probably discover it.

I am playing it on the pc and I love it. Playing Daxx Prime. Anyone on the PC version contact me and we can get a group going. It takes a bit of getting used to but so far I like it a lot!

Installed and patched. My PS I.d. is Twilah. I have a home game tonight, but should be on most of the day tomorrow. Pretty cool so far, just hoping there's a way for me to watch the show via my PS3 other than Monday nights, since I practice then :(

Started "Twilah Sylver" this morning. Game is rocking, but I am just using the game controller at this time. Not sure what all the chat options are but I do have a USB keyboard and headset if needed.

Exactly when does the Tutorial end? I can't find the in-game store in my EGO menu, in order to redeem any of my product codes. I thought it ended when that Reactor was shut down, but when I got to the next area to start investigating the wreckage and look for whatshisname, I couldn't find the store in my menu. :\

TY Fog. I couldn't find it documented in-game or the little CD manual. Seems like I remember finding it in Beta, but don't recall how.

heh same, I have a headset, but not sure how to set it up with Defiance... I've never used it on the PS3 before. Its designed for consoles, just never had a reason to use it. Is there an online guide for using a headset with PS3 Defiance, by any chance?

Same, I have a USB headset but apparently just plugging it in wasn't enough. It's very bare bones and has no PTT or volume adjust, so maybe I need that for PS3?

You need to turn mic on in ps3 settings. In defiance only group members can hear one another.

Yep, totally figured this out. In the main PS3 menu I went to: -System settings -Accessories -Add Audio (Chose USB Headset as input/output) This should do the trick :)

It is only Group? I assumed so, but hoped it might be Clan. Oh well. I did wake up just before 10am on Saturday, but I felt like complete crap, so rolled back up in my covers and slept until 4pm. But I did finally got all of my purchase/PO codes entered in, got my account is linked up and I have run some missions. I also just finished entering in the 120 Ark Hunter codes. My kid goes back to school this week, so I will probably be playing more during the day, as well as able to play after 10pm at night during the week, after everyone goes to bed.

Yea, its just hard for me to get any decent time on the PS3 because we only have one TV. If I had an HDMI monitor, that would probably work as a substitute when the family is using the HDTV, but its just a DVI connector. :\

PS3 version arrived from amazon yesterday, will probably jump on soon.
