Hm. That's interesting. Always a wrench that gets tossed into the works, isn't there.
My opinion: Go cross-factional if they're not locking factions. The difference for Gaiscioch from most other guilds, is that its a social gaming community, not a gaming guild, so it operates on different principles. Respect of the community is earned anyway, and I have no doubt that Gaiscioch will quickly dispel any doubts about the integrity of their members, regardless of their faction.
Besides, guilds that cross-realm and "game the system" do it covertly and under the table, by using different guild names and try to hide their activities. So if a gaming community like Gaiscioch is open, up-front and honest about their structure, faction participation and activities, then folks won't have a whole lot of self-conclusions to go off half-cocked and make-up wild accusations about.
I realize that there's a lot more background/infrastructural stuff involved if Gaiscioch picks TESO up as a full blown chapter, but IMO its a gaming community, and in a community, the people come first, the game comes second. So its important that folks be able to play what they enjoy and have fun as a whole, rather than feeling isolated or unhappy being locked into a particular "side".
edit: (For what its worth, this is the kind of stuff that I'd given a lot of thought about when I was working to rebuild my gaming community.)
