Public Service Announcement... BSOD problems?

Incase anyone has gotten crippled by recent BSOD's from Windows...

the latest patch from 4/9 may be the casue:

How to fix:

Scenario A: Recovery steps for computers that have installed security update 2823324 but have not yet restarted

Option 1: Manually uninstall the Security Update

1. In Control Panel, open Programs, and then click View Installed updates.
2. Select Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB2823324), and then click Uninstall to uninstall the security update.

Scenario B: Recovery steps for computers that have installed security update 2823324 and are now failing to start

Option 1: Recover the last Restore Point

1. Restart by using the F8 key.
2. Select Repair your Computer.
3. Select the language, and then log on to the computer.
   
   Note If you do not know the local password, you must start by using a Windows 7 DVD or USB bootable media. Then, access System Recovery Options.
4. Select System Restore from the menu:

5. Restore the last restore point. This uninstalls security update 2823324.
6. Restart the computer into normal mode.

Hrm, I uninstalled it. My comp has restarted in the middle of the night after virus scans and installing updates all the time. I blue screened for the fire time on this new comp a week or so ago, while playing Planetside 2. Was bummed.

Ha right after you post this my machine auto patches and guess what lol. Good one microsoft...

Hm, its not causing me any problems and based on the information in that article, its limited to certain types of software, that I don't use, but if they're recommending that ALL customers uninstall the update, then I guess I will. TY for the heads-up.

HA! I missed this one. I don't have Windows 7 on anything. My desktop is still Vista and my laptop is 8. Neither had issues. Only odd thing that happened on the Vista machine lately is while I was afk with GW2 running when hubby got home, that it decided to open Microsoft Internet Exploder over 90 times. ::chuckles:: I'm still blaming the dog for coming in and jostling the desk though hubby isn't buying it.
