I am getting cut out of voice, both in team speak and TS. Any suggestions as to what I can look at to possibly fix this?

Might be your mic going bad.  Check the wire and other moving/swiveling parts, and/or try a different one.

Next, any chance a different device on your PC is in conflict with your mic?  If you are using windows, check Device Manager for warnings.

GV is still in development and I've found I've had to restart it from time to time (usually the symptom is distortion, not drops).  Just close both GV windows, reopen.

For TS, I had a weird problem this week: my volume suddenly dropped.  Turned out I had two copies of TS running. both connected to the SoR server.  Closing one fixed the problem.

Last thought: malware? Or a legit program eating your audio in?  If you are running Windows 10, is Cortana set up for voice input?  I ended up turning off that "hey Cortana" feature because it was causing a lot of lag on my old PC.  Maybe worth trying with it off.

Does a bad mic cause a loud static-like sound when a person speaks on TS because I notice that whenever a certain individual speaks during our WvW events.

Schmi - No one has said that they have had issues hearing me, my issue is that the sound from both GV and TS "disappears." I didn't think to describe that. It seems that it is a packet drop like issue, as GW2 sound is just fine. I should have enough band width to cover everything, as I have cable now, and never had prior problems with a a lowly DSL connection.

My device manager is clear, I  have uninstalled and reinstalled most related drivers. While I have other inputs available, my headset is the only connected device.

Could be Cortana, except I had the same issue with Win8. I just looked, and it appears that Cortana is/was not set up. At least, I selected "Not interested."

I have been scanning with Malware Bytes, if malware I would hope that I would have caught it.

Pua - likely a bad mic in what you describe, if this "certain individual" is me, please let me know. If someone else, you might whisper them as there is no other way to know about a bad mic unless someone says something.

Thank you for all of the suggestions, this one is puzzling. I can generally figure out most of my PC issues, but this one doesn't want to cooperate.

Generally, if you are having cutting in and out, it is usually a bandwidth issue.  Cable is... odd.  The bandwidth is usually good, but I have seen many issues with cable.  They have times when they have problems, and there isn't always a consistent reasoning.
If nothing else is wrong, try using one of the programs without a game or download running.  If it sounds better, the issue is indeed bandwidth.  There may be hardware that you can look into to fix problems (potentially router replacement, modem replacement, or even issues with the cable jack,) and the hardware may all be just fine.

Jairone - your info reminded me that I had set a bandwidth limit on my router. after doing a speed test (50/2.8) I upped the upload limit to 5. I will try that out to see if that fixes the issue. Thank you for the idea!

PuaHone - you stumped me. I have no idea what you mean.

After bumping up my upload limit a bit, instead of drops I get the "Dialup Modem" sounds, on occasion. Much improved. Thanks all, for your help!
