As some of you have noticed, we now have two strike mission events on the calendar. Wanted to put up a little post so that people understand what the goals are for each of them, and what is going to be beyond the scope of these events. Currently we are running 1 squad at each timeslot. If we get the interest, I will work on figuring out how to get a second (or more) squad going at either timeslot so that as many people as possible can learn. For all of my events, you will need to be level 80, and have the ability to listen in discord for directions.
Event #1: Strike Missions -- Saturday Afternoons
The goal for this event is to teach and expand the collective knowledge of Strikes. If you have never done them before and want to learn, this is the event I want you to show up at first. For many people, this will be your introduction to playing in a group where you take up a defined role in GW2 (dps/boons/heals). As opposed to a raid training group, my gear/build requirement is that you have thought about the role you want to play, and have talked with me about getting the gear, along with a timeline, not that you have gotten a raid build completed before you start.
Event #2: Quick Strikes -- Wednesday Nights, Pre and Post Reset
The goal for this group is that we will take strikes we already know and understand, and complete them as quickly as possible. As rewards reset daily for Strikes, the goal is to complete as many as possible before reset, then complete the same set of them after reset, to maximize loot while minimizing the time spent forming the group. As opposed to the Saturday group, the goal is not to teach during this event (as that will slow down our kills, and we are on a very strict time limit before the reset), so in addition to the Saturday groups requirements, this group requires that you have either attended a Saturday event before, or you have talked with me so that you are ready to kill at the start of the event and won't need explanation time.
Things that will be out of scope for our Strike Events:
Raids -- While we will occasionally make some attempts at a raid boss, the goal here is to help people learn how to play in a role based group in GW2, learn how your build works in role based groups, and learn strikes. There will be a point where people want to take that next step into full-time raid training, but hopefully by that point someone is running a GSCH raid training group again, otherwise I can recommend several raid training groups.
Crazy Theorycrafting -- As many of the players in our group are first time players to this type of content, we'll be basically sticking with pre-made builds from either snowcrows or the raids section on metabattle. The goal here is to get a build learned and understood that people would recognize if you started pugging strikes and raids. I know that many builds can be changed around and still be acceptable, but as many want to progress into raids at some point, getting a raid ready build together is easiest if you just cookie-cutter it. Your future raid leader will thank you that they know what to expect :)
Gear Collection -- While we can certainly discuss how to get your hands on more/better gear, we won't be diverting into the open world during the event to help get it. Obviously the gold that you earn during these events can help you get what you need, and people will most likely be willing to help you complete events at other times, but the goal is to stick in the Eye of the North during this event.
Hope to see you all out there!
