Claiming PvE Events in GW2

Hey Everyone,

I wanted to point out the bottom of the open world leadership console and remind you all that we have a few guidelines for what you SHOULD claim and what you SHOULD NOT claim.

If you do not meet the requirement you should not be claiming these. The Epic Objectives are based of needing 25+ people in attendance to complete. You should not claim these if you are not in charge of 25+ people. 

If you want to lead I really want you all to pay attention to these guidelines as you will be awarding people points they dont deserve.

The tutorials on the top of the Leadership Console will tell you exactly what you should claim. Please read them.

you can post dragon events you just have to have 25+ people and be warlord 2 or above is how I read that. best way to probably get the participants is to host a dragon night where you track down epic creatures and lead:) If you lack the warlord rank try leading some dungeons or some small group events. Prissie also has been doing leadership training if you need the knowledge in how to lead the larger groups. Just some thoughts.

Then it appears that I gave out bad information with regards to claiming any of the world Mega-boss events. I apologize to those folks, as I was going off my understanding of what was said regarding leadership during the last Family Summit on Raidcall. At least as far as claiming it as an Epic creature. If I understand this thread correctly, then if you organize a group for mega-bosses, such as Shatterer, Mark II Golem, etc. then they can be claimed as an Assassination Event - Basic Objective, just not as an Epic Creature. Right, wrong, in the ballpark?

My point being that I had been going about it wrong, and am unlikely to ever meet these criteria when putting together dragon events on the fly in game at all. I had been posting the events as claimable when I had alerted the guild to the event, organised and invited into parties of least 4+ guild members. I will remember not to post these events in future.

Whoops, guess you can count me among the baddies claiming this. That's too bad, can't see very many situations where you'll have that many people around doing dragon/meta events... Kk, no more claiming for me. Thanks for the info!

It's ok if you've claimed them in the past i just wanted to get this out in the open as there was a lot of confusion. The biggest thing to remember is that you claim objectives for your leadership victories. If your unit joins a larger force in taking what they set out to take that's their victory not yours. You must be the one in control of the outcome of the battle for you to take leadership credit for it. The point system is based off of: time to complete & number of people required If you go into the Shatterer with 5 people your taking credit for a victory designed for 25. If you meet the personnel requirements and have the majority of the people at the objective under your lead you can claim. Basic Objectives: Designed for 5+ Man Teams (Group) Elite Objectives: Designed for 10+ Man Teams (Multi-Group) Epic Objectives: Designed for 25+ Man Teams (Partial Squads) Legendary Objectives: Designed for 50+ Man Teams (None in GW2)

I apologize for being thick-headed about this, but I'm confused by the wording. I don't want to claim anything that I shouldn't. So. assuming that I organize a 5 person GSCH group for mega-boss event hunting: 1. Can I claim it as a victory objective. 2. If so, what Objective Category should I claim it as? 3. If there are other GSCH members that happen to be at the event, *unaware that I am leading a group for event claiming*, are they also eligible to claim or not? If you are claiming that your group killed an Epic creature, or took a keep in WvW ask yourself this..."If ONLY the people under my direct command were here and no one else, would we be able to do this?" If your answer is no, then don't.claim.

To be eligable to claim the objective you must be directly responsible for the success of the objective. If your lead did not directly result in the victory you do not claim it. You dont take credit for something as a leader if you dis not lead the war force to victory. This stuff is all part of that highly ignored text at the top of the leadership console.

My apologies. I used to run a LOT of dragon fights like Sekker at the evening Oceanic times to get us things to do. It was the only things I led since I hardly ever dungeon anymore and unfortunately, I don't foresee us Oceanics in the 6pm EST+ bracket to ever get 25+ active people who all want to come to a dragon :P At present we have 24 online. I'm griping, yes, but I also understand the thinking. I just was always in the 4+ team thinking. Again, apologies. I'll leave the leading to others now.

edit: Nevermind, I just noticed this thread is in General and I don't want some of the stuff that I've posted in public and out on the web. I thought it was in the Leadership area.

I think you read a bit too much into that :) As far as the dynamic zone events you listed, of course they scale and you should claim leadership according to the level they scale at (size of your party) as is outlined above and on the leadership screen. So, if you kill a champ with 5 people it is a basic objective. I was not aware that five players could take a Keep in WvW or take down Tequatl the Sunless by themselves. If they can and those events scale, then my point is still valid. I guess I am confused at this point because I think everything has been explained very well...so I'll check out of this thread and hopefully someone can answer questions better than me!

Looking at the table, it is clearly explained but I think my mind was clouded with what I learned from the guild in game vs what I read on the forum. I'll make sure I re-read things over every now and then to make sure I am reading it correct. Thank you for clearing that up.
