That's incredibly scary. And no information as to what the exploit is/was either. Makes me nervous about playing, and glad I haven't been around much due to work.
@Banana Mike O'Brien said this, It was not possible to perform this exploit with an unmodified game client. Those who performed it knew exactly what they were doing. I don't think they're going to release any info beyond that.
When you're node-farming in Orr, steer clear of any bots you come across (groups of individuals doing the exact same actions in sync killing mobs and individuals appearing, harvesting nodes, and disappearing) if you don't want to lose your account to ArenaNet's automatic banning system. A good friend of mine lost his account last year because he didn't steer clear of the bots, and he had hundreds of hours logged on top of his account being linked to his original Guild Wars account (and he had max or near-max transferable achievements too). To avidly play and support a video game franchise for five years just to be banned for something you didn't do is probably one of the worst game-related things that can happen to a gamer. Don't let it happen to you.
"To avidly play and support a video game franchise for five years just to be banned for something you didn't do is probably one of the worst game-related things that can happen to a gamer. Auto-banning is just as barbaric as the Salem witch trials.
I've played very few hours on GW2 in 2013, and I've run into the 'porting node hoppers several times. A wrongful ban is horrible, but the bots are a massive turn-off, too.
