*WARNING*

Hey all just wanted to post a warning about an e-mail scam going on.  I got an e-mail earlier today stating it was from ArenaNet and that my account would be banned if I didn't follow the link in the e-mail and verify my account information.  It accuses me of attempting to sell my account on some website.   

Been in MMO's for a while and have seen this scam in so many other games.  I e-mailed ArenaNet support and posted the e-mail for them to see.  

Anyways just be careful if you see an e-mail from ArenaNet asking for your account information.

Got a reply from ArenaNet and they said they have had numerous reports about this e-mail. They advised of course not to follow the link and that they would be looking into it.

Heh, I just started getting that e-mail at my catch-all e-mail that doesn't even have a GW2 account.

Haven't received this e-mail... yet... but over the years I've received many like this regarding my WoW account! I've never owned WoW so have never had an account! :) Thanks for the heads up Ammodawg.

A lot of emails were hacked from a couple of the big gaming sites a few years back, as well as smaller fansite forums over the years. They mostly went after WoW and Aion sites. Then of course you have the SOE hack, as well as the Blizzard hack a year or two ago. I get several of these types of emails a day, which is why I now use a separate email account only for game accounts, I never give use it any other reason other than my actual gaming accounts. I figure that if they manage to hack these games to get at my account info, then I'll have bigger issues to worry about than spam emails. ;)
