Darkfall 2.0 Unholy Wars

I will be playing this, was wondering if anyone else would be.  This is a hardcore full loot FFA pvp game with seiges, open world pvp, etc.

I would be very interested in hearing more about it for sure.

Honestly, Darkfall Online failed hard the first time, so I don't expect the reboot attempt to be any better. These money grab reboots are becoming a disturbing trend in the MMO industry.

Not so sure about the "failed hard". They have a rather loyal large following. The original game did have some things broken but all in all a very good game.

I think the failed hard, was the exploits and bugs. Irregardless of the following it had it still had a much smaller following than the pre-luanch hype would have given it. I am seriously thinking of playing this game (as it appears to be the only 'Empire Builder' short of EvE available) however I am very concerned about the release delays. I am not going to pre-purchase for a broken beta only to find out in March that it will not be released and I will not be getting a refund. Sorry, but after the very poor Customer Support on Darkfall, I will not trust Aventurine. Honetly I am waiting for ArcheAge.

Definately waiting on ArcheAge.. I am just not into all the separate PVE/PVP games like GW2, ESO and everyone else who is kinda following that model. ArcheAge is a looonnnnggggg way off as it only now is getting close to open beta in Korea. It will be probably around spring of 2014 or later before we ever see it. That is a long way off for me and I kinda wish to play something this winter!

It looks like they just gave it a fresh coat of paint and are going for the cash grab this time, which is a popular financing trend in multi-player game development right now. Do you have a crappy game that no publisher will touch? Fabricate a lot of hype and sell Beta access for $30, unsuspecting players will snatch it right up without questioning anything. But, that's my opinion. My primary hobby is MMO analyzation and commentary. I was not surprised to hear that Darkfall was shutting down. I'd like to say I'm surprised that they're giving it a reboot, but if they're going for the cash grab, then I can understand that they want to try to recoup their losses from the first try, the Greek economy has sucked. However, I feel that Aventurine is too unscrupulous to trust. >_>

Q: How much does it cost? A: The NA game client costs $39.95 and this comes with 30 days of free game time. The cost for the European Server is €39.95 (VAT inclusive for EU countries and where applicable). Beyond the client price, there is a monthly subscription in order to access the game servers and receive the latest game updates. The subscription for North American server access is $14.95. The subscription for European server access is €14.95 (VAT inclusive where applicable). HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Nope :3 No way I would be paying 40 dollars + a recurring fee for some medieval pvp game son of the darkfail. :3

I haven`t looked at darkfall since it released and heard it was pretty rough , however i have been following this game for the last 2 years . ARCHEAGE It`s a mix of Shadowbane meets EQ 2 , pure sandbox game with some theme park tacked on . you can be /do anything pretty much in game you want , even classes as there are no preset classes , you can play a preset archtype or you can mix match from 3 diff and create a new class . supposedly there are a few hundred possible class combos , like say you want a oldschool EQ shadowknight ? pick up warrior tree and add necromancer and death magic etc . to create a new class . so no two classes will be the same . Say you want to be a simple crafter you can buy or build a shop hire npcs to work in the store and sell what you craft , or you and your friends want to be pirates you can build a fleet of warships roam the seas sinking enemy ships and raiding coastal towns . NO zones world is open , you can actual change the game world clear land chop down trees , plant new ones buy and sell land . You can buy land and clear it plant a farm and build a simple house be a farmer and sell your goods at the market , or you can build a manor or a castle etc depending on what you want . you can band together and build entire villages or cities like in shadowbane build a navy to protect it if its a coastal city ,etc movable siege engines , destroyable cities , ships , 3 land masses 2 semi safe from pvp , the oceans and 1 land mass as well as many islands are pvp areas . it looks very good if you are a fan of sandbox type games he is a link to the last vid its not translated but is a week or so old as far as posted goes , i`ll posted a translated one later and add it to this . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2naspighl1E this clip is from a year ago and explains some of the thingsd you can do in game as is translated graphics are better in the first vid as its new one but still good . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmOyBIY7prY

Well, I will report on the "bad", "terrible", or whatever on Darkfall Unholy Wars as I did purchase it for $29 and am willing to pay the 14.95 per month, depending on how good or bad it is. As far as ArcheAge goes... It really cant get here soon enough for me. Black Desert Online by Pearl Abyss looks intriguing as well.

Yea, sorry, I don't usually bash on a game, I'm a strong supporter of anyone who has the guts and tenacity to try to make a game work in this oversaturated MMO market. But when a developer is... behaving dubiously... I will not only refuse to support their product, but try to warn others to stay away. Luckily, there have not been many of those, although now with Kickstarter and this new "Beta for sale" money grab scheme, there are some popping up. There's already been a couple of MMO Kickstarter scams, but I forget what the titles were, off the top of my head. Aventurine could just be incompetent and not trying to run a money grab scam. Either way, I do urge a "buyer beware" approach to their product. The Hellgate reboot seems legit (different owner now, though), so its possible that the Darkfall reboot is, too.
