ok well title does say a lot, but I would like to share a positive and hopeful way to see things.. but first i'll explain where this comes from...  I was online for most of the day today, something that doesn't happen often lately... it being a patch day might have made it worse.... but the constant complaining about AvA and FPS issues and this problem and that problem and this other problem...  well  I have to say it got to me today...  having to see guild chat and having the same complaint brought up over and over and over drove me nuts to the point I actually had to close guild chat....  now this saddens me to a an extreme since the last thing I want to do is cut off my family....

after logging off for super and sitting around playing uno with my kids trying to explain to my 3 year old the game well to say the least this took quite a bit of patience and long deep breaths..  after 15 minutes or so I had but to smile to the fact that he corrected me at one point about a card I told him to play "daddy not that one this one is better" and he was right....

this brought me back to my ESO day and how this game is young,  it hasn't figured everything out, sure it gets you annoyed, mad, discourages you all to often....  and then well you have to look at all the things they did do right, and the things they are changing and growing into something with endless possibilities.... a game with graphics and scenery that blows my mind,  lore and story telling that just got me hooked...  classes that have so many ways to play them I don't know where to start, an AvA world that lets us tacticians go wild... and so much more I cant think of it all....

lets all see the good in this game, give it a chance to grow into something we will all be proud of... and  those of you who aren't happy with the game.  we know we understand,  but pls can we all stop talking about just the negatives and think positively and see the good in this game for a while.. pleasssssse

As most of the Family that reads my posts know - I totally agree with you.

We tend to compare the game to others that are out - and how they "got it right" without thinking back to the early days (read as first year) that those  games also suffered through.  It doesn't matter whether they are FTP or PTP - since all of these games are in it to make money - they just make it in different ways.  So this shouldn't be a factor although I imagine someone will bring it up.

As I stated in another thread... other games have suffered through the same lag issues - and it always takes time to "work it out".  Whether the lag is so bad that it actually made servers go off line to fighting invisible enemies where all you saw was a name tag above their heads - if you were lucky.  I have been slain by invisible opponents in many games -never even saw them on the screen - and it wasn't a game designed stealth mechanic either.

I still play games that have been out for years and get stuck in walls, have a lag spike (with far fewer players on the screen), or get stuck in a loading screen.  I still play them - and still enjoy them.

I don't complain about it since it doesn't do one iota to help anything or anyone else.  Others will state that if "we don't complain how will they know?"  Believe me, they know and if you really think they don't know - then send them /feedback and tell them exactly what you were doing when you lagged out, got stuck, etc.  This is what will help.  This is how the game will get better.

Sometimes it is hard to keep from joining in the fray and complaining along with others since you feel it also - but doing the hard thing is often the right thing.   Being positive as Doreth requests might be hard but it is definitely right and it will make for a better chat channel and in the long run - a better family.

We are Gasicioch!  Safe journ!

I'm not trying to be difficult, but I find posts like these troubling in that you're basically telling people how to talk and think about a game.  There is a fine line here between telling people to stop complaining and censoring people's views about a game.

In moderation, I personally have no problem with people expressing their displeasure about certain bugs or aspects of the game.  If expressed a certain way, it can even be funny.  If you are in my guild, I would hope that you would be comfortable enough around me to tell me how you really feel about the game.  Even if it's a view that you know that I may not agree with.  I certainly would not want people feeling that they are somehow doing something wrong by expressing their opinions about the game to another guildie.

And that is really what people are doing.  Expressing their opinions.  Some are expressing a negative opinion.  Others are expressing a positive opinion.  I believe we must show tolerance for both.  Again, it's about moderation as in everything in life.  If the same person is continually expressing the same negative opinions then there's a problem there.  But I don't think people need to be afraid that they can't login on patch day and complain that their addons are broken or that 10 bugs were fixed and now 15 new bugs have appeared.

Again, I'm not accusing anybody of doing anything so please don't see this as some personal argument.  I am however saying that telling people to talk a certain way about a game can have unintentional muting effects on conversations in general.

I'm still pretty excited about the game overall.

I do like choices that I need to make for my characters given context and resources.

I like the existing play-style contexts and the content for them.  I look forward to the expansion of content for the game overall.

There's really a lot going for the game and I'm interested to see what more it will bring.

I believe they are saying that seeing so many negative posts , tends to bring people down and bum them out , semi killing their enjoyment of the game  .

 have fun .

Bentmer I don't believe anyone is trying to censor anyone.  This is a case though for understanding when to say something and where to say something.  Guild chat is great for connecting and light conversations ( I think of it more along the lines of twitter) but it becomes very difficult to convey complex thoughts and heavy conversation.  The forums is a much better place to have such a lengthy discussion.

The other  understanding is that we all feel the growing pains and discomfort but it's never a cause to lash out towards another guild member.  Remember anyone can dislike the game as much as they want and feel free to move on.  But it's not ok to ruin someone else's gaming experience.  A reminder than everyone's gaming experience is subjective and in the process should be respected.

To take all of this to the extreme:  What do we get if everyone begins to rant/rage/vent in guild chat?  An atmosphere of negativity for one.  In the end result people will leave because no one wants to live in a caustic environment, especially if they are trying to or in fact do enjoy the game.

As an elder I want to safeguard what we have as a family and don't want us to settle to lowest common denominator.  We are better and can rise above.  In fact I would challenge every member in the family to choose life not death.  Anyone can kill, but who will be brave enough and secure enough to speak life?

Personally I agree with Doreth and Morigana. And Bentmer, there is a big difference between censoring Guild chat and requesting/hoping the Family in general could dial down the negativity a bit. I have been bummed out by the ongoing ESO-bashing rants that sometimes occur, and end up simply logging out. I can't bring myself to put any Gaiscioch on 'Ignore' or mute Guild chat, and can only hope the next time I log in I will find a more positive tone. Its less about "telling people to talk a certain way" and more about respecting others' hopes to maintain a more positive Guild environment.

I think there are far better ways to complain about the game; pressing F1 and leaving Feedback is a great one (and this may actually have a positive result, rather than bumming out everyone else in the Guild). Barring that, prefacing the negative rants with a "/z "works wonders too...plenty of that going on there already :-P

Personally I think what Doreth wrote was quite touching and persuasive.  Can't link that with censoring whatsoever.

I like ESO enough to give it 6 months to see how things go.  I mean 6 months seems like a fair amount of time to give a new MMO if you like it and think there is good chance that it will grow better.

Will see if ZOS fix the FPS issue in AvA soon.

I am still having a lot of fun with the game. I get that people are paying and that makes them impatient for a fix that for something that should never have been broken, and after being broken for weeks still remains an issue. A little patience though is needed; the foundation of the game is great, the lore, the graphics, the AVA design, this is an annoyance that will pass and be forgotten.

What I hope is that they fix it soon because I think that most people who leave an MMO seldom come back. If they lose too many subscribers the game isn't going to feel populated, and the AVA is going to suffer badly. Luckily there isn't anything else good out there as far as MMOs go at the moment, which means that some of the people who left might give it a 2nd chance before adapting to a new UI in a different game.

I think that ESO even with it's current faults is still far better than anything else that is out there.  We will certainly complain about the problems, as we should, but that doesn't mean we will be flocking away from the game.  There will be those that leave, but they would have left anyway at a later date.

I am encouraged by the number of people who continue to struggle through the FPS and Lag issues, by the ones who continue to work their way through dungeons filled with extremely difficult mobs.  It is players like this that make a game. The ones that give it everything they have, and are rewarded in the end with a game that beats all the other ones out there.

Glad to be part of such a great group of dedicated gamers!

I,m still feeling positive in all aspects of the game. Sure, a few things need tweaking and fixing here and there, but what MMO game has not had those issues in its early stages? None I can think of. I still think ESO is by far the best game I have ever played, even with the bugs we have seen so far. Add to that this amazing guild and it is all good from my perspective.
