Guild Chat

Hey gang,

I've got a question:

Would it be possible to take lengthy, emotional discussions criticizing the game, devs, customer support, etc. to private conversations instead of in Guild Chat? A comment here and there about this or that is no biggie, but for two days now I've watched people go on and on with complaining. Frankly, it's starting to be a bit of a turn-off to see all that. While I don't think the game is perfect, I do like it very much and overwhelming negativity is disappointing to see in Guild Chat.

My two cents, anyway. I tried not to make it sound like a rant, just a question and explanation :)

It must be my good fortunate that I haven't experienced this, but I can understand why it might be a downer.

That said, I think most people express frustration to "be heard" and have some degree of commiseration... I don't think anyone is deliberately "negative", likely just annoyed and frustrated that there are more things still needing attention or resolution than they feel there should be at this point.

Not sure if I've been a contributor in your eyes or not, but if so, my apologies to you. For my part, if I am complaining, it is exactly due to the above sentiment. Obviously, I'm still committed to the game... that's hardly a negative thing. :)

If someone is monopolizing the regular chat channel please feel free to ask them to take their conversation to another channel.  The general chat channel should not be for rants or for raves it is there to discuss and ask questions about the game to hook up for quests or to seek solutions -  but it is not there to besmirch the game or derail it for others that are in the channel and enjoying the game or just playing.  We should not have rants... or raves... about the game, politics, religions, or how to grow the best cucumber.   If you find someone interested in discussing that stuff with you please feel free to drop into any of the other rooms.

I have said it before... Negativity is like a disease and can easily spread and corrupt others - the longer negativity continues the more it grows and it really does more harm to everyone than it can ever hope to create change.  Negativity by it's very nature is depressing and it will make it so in you and the people listening to you.

If you have suggestions about how to make the game better then open the tab and submit clear concise detailed information to the devs.  That is you only real recourse.  Spreading discontent among other family members is not what we are about.  If you want to ask a question about a broken quest - or how to beat a particular boss - please do so.  But please don't go on a 5 minute tirade about all the faults that you find and how it is a piece of garbage.   The point is there will be people that disagree with that and then we have an argument - because they will wish to defend it.

Am I saying you shouldn't speak out about your disappointments - please feel free to express yourself just don't hop on a soap box in general chat.  You might now say "Well if they don't like what I'm saying - then they can leave" but then you negate the real reason for general chat... they might have been able to answer a question from someone on how to craft... if someone could make some daggers to deconstruct.... does anyone know how to beat Manemarco on a NightBlade... Is there a bank in.... Does anyone want to group up for the Dark Anchor in... ?????
