I'm VR1 stuck with no access to the other factions or any VR quests. Can somebody help me out please?

I hit VR1  2 days ago and my main quest line is right at the point where i kill Molag Bal. I have tried that fight a few times and had big problems getting anywhere. He killed me really quickly. I have done my google research and think i have a much better tactic to take him out now, so I am looking forward to trying that out very soon - I just need to raise my restro staff up before i give it a go.

So my dilema is this...........

The only quest i have left is kill Molag Bal, yet I'm VR1 and people are telling me they can access other factions and do VR content as soon as they hit VR1. I have seen mention of Cadwell's Almanac that can be accessed by the journal at VR1. I do not have this in my journal.

Do I need to kill Molag Bal before i get the VR quests? or can somebody please shed some light on how i can get access to the veteran rank quests please?  I love the game and am really keen to get moving into the vet ranks, it just feels like the way forward is somehow hidden from me right now.

Access will be given after you finish the main quest line, so you have to kill him in order to progress.

What class are you? I don't think you really need to raise eso staff for just him. Fight him at ranged if you can. Bow is great for that fight with low resource cost and decent damage. The key is to ALWAYS be moving. Typically if you just strafe and cast/bow him down you will be fine.

This quote fits my fights with Molag Bal.

But as Iron said, stay ranged and as soon as you see him jump, run away from where you were.  Also make sure you have a self heal slotted and aoe came in handy too.  I did this fight on my DK with dragon blood as my only heal and by shield charging him to death, sure it was easier on my Templar with restro staff, but it is doable in other configurations.

Point is that running away and hiding is a perfect valid tactic in this fight.

As a side note, you can benefit vastly from having 2 bars on that fight.  1 for damage using mostly stamina, and 1 with a healing and damage magicka mix.  The heals are almost required as he will hit you some, although potions can also cover most of it.

Congrats... now be prepared to think that maybe he wasn't all that bad...

Just defeated Molag Bal this morning... man, did that fight take forever! And I was expecting the adds to reappear every 20% or so, which would have really been painful (not that the fight isn't painful enough). From all the tips people put out in gchat, I was ready, so I had a couple of ranged spells, and just hit him with a couple then ran around in circles. Felt like it took an eternity, but hey, it worked!

Of course I go to VR content and get slaughtered by a werewolf in the 1st quest I'm doing but hey, I made it there!
