An Alarming Email from a Goldseller

A few minutes ago I found an email from a ESO goldseller in my out of game email account. It was under an ESO header but was from an alphabet name like the spammers/botters use in ESO. I find it quite disturbing that one of these people have gotten my email account to send me their trash outside the game. I sent a report off to Zenimax with a copy of the email. I just wanted you all to be aware that the goldsellers can reach out and touch you in real life. Below is a copy of what was mailed to me, fortunately it was in my spam box. I just want to know how they got my email address?

They use the forum to send these. ZeniMax is working on banning these accounts. You can log into the eso site and turn off email notifications. 

If you turn off e-mail notifications will that also prohibit Zenimax from sending e-mails to you?   I'm not sure is why I ask.

I'm really interested in how they got me with the same email.  My forum account does not use the same email address as my game account and is not called elthurien.  Yet somehow the gold sellers knew which email address to target that uses my active account.

had one of those also, on an e-mail I had use to get into beta, an account that never went to forums or even into a beta....  thought it was a bit scary that they manage to get that info from an account that never did anything in eso except to be created

Is this thread family viewable only? Just asking because the OP has included their email address...wouldn't want that scraped by a search engine, given the topic.

No, this forum section is Public.  You can check the box to make a post require login, which will make it "members-only", but otherwise, yes, their email can and probably will be scraped.

Be careful what you post if you are not going to check the box to require login.

Also, turning off email notifications on the ESO forums just turns off email notifications for private messages that you might receive on the forums.  It has nothing to do with Zenimax or other ESO official emails, it like any other forum.
