So I just hit L50 tonight and was looking to maybe pound out a veteran rank in a 3-5 hour sitting but over that time frame I only got about 1/5th of a level done. Anyone have any advice on speeding up the process at all?

Have come to a bit of an impasse myself and have discovered that vet dungeon acheivments give about 100k experience. Members of the vet guild I am in have hit vet10 within the 2nd zone of AD land by farming out these vet dungeons.
Looks like its off to the vet dungeons this weekend once I get my gear upgraded then! I feel like that's a bit of a loophole/unintended way of getting boosted that much though, but hey I'm not complaining if it works!
Well I believe it is intended. I am currently into the 2nd AD zone and am only VR 6.5. That being said I am fighting VR 8 mobs. There are not enough quests and world content to keep you upto level without those vet dungeons.
Can I ask how long did it take you to get that far and does the pace of it pick up(how many hours per level is it taking you?)
I also just hit 50, so i am up for some vet dungeons this we.
I am trying to level up resto staff so can be healerish or just stick to massive thane damage.
I would say I averaged a level per one from 50-V5. As for time, my schedule varies so I cannot really pin down how long it took me to go from one level to the next. v1-2 seemed like it took forever, I remember that clearly, from there it seemed pretty quick.
The fastest method is achievements. Most achievements in the VR zones give VP.
Aside from skyshards, quest and dungeons, what achievments give vp? Exploration?
You only get the vet dungeon achievement once right? so how are they farming it exactly for VP?
Farm the boss's. forget which dungeon it is, but the final boss drops 50k VP. Speed run farming sessions can go for hours.
What would you say is the ideal time to go into the dungeons ie; what veteran rank assuming I always have that ranks armor on?
I honestly do not know, it all comes down to everyone in the group working together to clear the instance. I would imagine that by VR1 you have the skills necessary to perform your role effectively and therefore it is up to you to decide.
Be advised that vet dungeons are very hard. I tried vet spindleclutch as VR1 in a pug group and we couldn't make it past the trash. You need to be like VR3 to even attempt it.
Was questing last night with a couple randoms and came to a horrible realization. The fact that I did not do any of the public dungeons, dolmens and world boss's really hurt my vp gain over the long run. We started in the vr7 zone and my vp gain per dolmen/dung /wb was roughly 50k. VR8 was 70ish and vr9 was nearly 100k. Going back to previous completed zones I was encountering anywhere from 9k to 40k. I very well could have been VR10 by now. That Alex if you are still reading this is about the best advice for leveling in Vet zones. Do absolutely everything.
In fact, I'd take it a step further and say to do all the bosses/dolmens/delves forall zones you can access FIRST.
The VP award from those is based upon the zone it is in whereas quest VP is based on your level. At the point I started the Cadwell Silver quests I was VR4 already from bosses/dolmens/delves/dungeons/AvA and I was grouped with a VR1 friend. When we completed a quest he got either 1k or 1.5k per quest, I got 4k or 6k for the same quests.
