Which of the three horse types: speed, stamina, capacity would you recommend and why? I do both PvE and PvP. Thanks for any suggestions.

PvE = Capacity hands down.
PvP = Stamina is good for not being knocked down by enemy fire. Speed is nice because the map is so huge and you can outrun people. I favor speed over Stamina. Yes you can use Stamina to sprint, but with Speed I tend to think of it as, "being fast all of the time rather than some of the time."

It really depends on what you want.
As noted, each gives different benefits.  The big benefit of stamina is that attacks will not simply knock you over, which means you keep going and leave most enemies in the dust.  However, with current setups you need at least a 30%+ mount to have an chance of escaping the faster players... so max stamina is just a waste.

I have discussed this much with some of the members.

  • Save up for 1st Horse -Draft Horse (Bag) and feed it purely Oats (bag space)
  • More inventory space for levelling = more items = more money
  • Dungeon runs, public dungeons, skyshard runs all take up HUGE bag spaces in 1-2 hours
  • Save up 2nd horse for Light Horse (Speed) and feed it purely apples (speed)
  • Do this ASAP when you have enough Money as feeding horse to L50 takes around 12,250 gold and 1000 hours.
  • Total cost is 42,700 + 12250 x2 = 109,900g

By doing above, you will get:

  1. L50 Draft Horse - 60 extra bag space
  2. L50 Light Horse - 75% Speed

If you are not min maxing and would like to save money, just get 2 of the Imperial Horse and then feed 2 horses with Oats and Apples respectively. You get to save 85,400g. Only losing 10 in each attribute. 59 bag space and 64% speed.

Speed Horse all the way, I don't know if I'd buy a cheap horse for inventory space if I hadn't got a free Imperial one...  Probably I guess because I do love my bagspace =)

A level 50 Draft Horse (fed all oats) will have 60 slots and a level 50 Light Horse (fed all apples) will be 75% speed.

Imperial Horses get you 50 Bank slots if fed all oats and 65% speed if fed all apples.

If you are still questing and leveling, I would think speed would give you the most benefit overall.  I understand that having more bag space is awesome, but trying to get around the world on a horse that barely goes faster than you unmounted would drive me crazy.

Now if you're max level and you're just porting from dungeon to dungeon then I could definitely see the benefit of more bag space .  But you'd be a far more patient person than myself if you could level the whole way with a draft horse with just the 15% speed boost lol.

I like the black horse personally, never cared for brown or molted and white is just too common.

maegor's got the right idea who cares about the stats....if it's black and goes really fast who cares about all the other stuff!

why oh why has no one mention the best horse ... is the one you look good on :)  Yes - all about the vanity here!

I have one player with the Pinto and another with the Black - but they are both being leveled for combination of speed/stamina - the purchase factor was all about the looks though for each play and personal taste.

My choice was easy - I've got a vanilla horse (yes, the imperial "public transport" model). I can't go 3 paces without harvesting a node or looting a container, so all my horses are carry only. It really seems to come down to your own playstyle: I'm not min/maxing or racing to 50, and I'd rather explore or craft than grind dungeons, so carry is the stat I care most about. The carry horse saves me from having to create yet another character mule (pardon the pun).
