Claiming participation questions

In the past few days I grouped with a few different Gaiscioch members and did some dungeons. Once we had in the group a member (Booie - thanks!) which did create the events for us. I have a few questions:
1. For the events created by Booie I remember that I went in that very night (last Wednesday) and claimed them. However, after a few days I looked at them and it does not seem to be claimed (the checkboxes are clear). Is this the way it is supposed to be? If so please ignore this question.
2. For the dungeon runs that we did not have a member that was able to (or knew how) to create the events, what do we do? What is the proper way to record these events?

1.a way to check this is : do you see checkmarks next to the boxes? and is your name on the list of participants for the dungeon?

2. You need lorgair or higher to be able to lead something in the guild. dungeons are where most people start out leading. If you want to lead a dungeon I suggest looking at the leadership part of the website. If no one in group is high enough to list it, you will have to rank up.

There are tutorials listed under the membership tab of the website if you would like to know to do these things in depth and if you have more questions do not hesitate to ask:)

1. I can see my name, but no checked boxes. I tried to claim again - but nothing happens, no error message either.

2. Where can I see a list of ranks please? I am not sure I can find the leadership part of the website - do you by any chance have a link?

Check boxes are by default turned off. They are used to both mark or un mark participation.  It should say "claimed" to the left of the objectives

Let me start with thanks for the thanks :)

Membership -> Family Structure is the best spot to see the ranks with requirements and you do have a high enough rank to create the events yourself, if you need any guidance in setting up the first one, then feel free to grab me.

Looks like my rank is Freiceadan, which (if I read this list  http://eso.gaiscioch.com/about/structure.html correctly) is above Lorgair.

This means I should be able to create an event if I participate in a dungeon. Is this correct?

Thanks and sorry for the naive question - I'd rather ask than make a mistake.

If anyone has further questions and/or wants a walk through, I'm usually on raidcall in the afternoons EDT and after 8pm EDT and sometimes other crazy hours depending on what is going on in life.  Of course, even I figured out I had one point about this wrong in my head yesterday and I've been here 4.5 years.  HA!

If there is enough interest I could try setting up a time to do a class or two on it, as well, just to help out.  Anything to save Fog a few gray hairs.  ;)

Whatever few gray hairs you can save, I will probably cause >:) .. Going bald is an option you know :)

Yes you can create events, I don't believe that you gain access too it until you can.

As Booie says, the leadership system - including event creation - is tied to your own rank, so you won't see the option to create one unless you are of the minimum required rank. (Sometimes that catches members below Lorgair who try to see the leadership options that others are describing.)
