Argonians are the new Sylvari

1.) We both have the best colors.

2.) We both originated from a magic tree.

Only problem. One is ugly, while the other is not. Which is which you can decide.

I'm not generally a fan of the Argonians, but I did create one named Farts-with-Brain.

respectfully disagree on both counts, leaving aside that the first point is purely subjective.  The Sylvari are a race of plants, that are literally grown from the roots of the pale tree, Argonians are a race of reptiles, originally probably swamp dwelling which revere a particular 'type' of tree.  In Guild Wars lore Death of the Pale tree would cause all existing Sylvari to plunge into madness (or nightmare) and mean that no new Sylvari could be born.

The Tree in Ebonhawke for instance is important to the Argonian community there but as a reminder of their home in Black Marsh not because they originated from it.  At least that is my understanding, am I wrong?

Short answer, you are kind of wrong, Jonathan.

Argonians have a very special relationship with the Hist Tree. They need the tree for their rituals, mature and it seems to determine their gender.

I'll happily accept that the Sylvari are the new Argonians. For the same reason Kitty has stated.

I think both are beautiful and shiny too, in their own ways. I <3 my Argy Temp - she has beautiful shiny black horns :D

Around minute 1:50 it explains the Hist.

Of course all this assumption is based off the presupposition that the Hist are trees/plants. What if the Hist are proto reptiles much like the Velociraptor to the common every day sparrow?  After all since when do trees lay eggs like a reptile?  Seeds and spores might qualify but then the would use the term seed brother or spore sister instead of eg brother. 

I for one don't understand the Hist but I'm also not interested in being another plant person. As an argonian I came from an egg, revere the Hist and if you pry much further you'll be met with silence or the anger of the brood. :)

I find the Argonian racials a little sub-par compared to others. Fast swimming? BTW you cannot out run the slaughter fish, I tried.

I haven't rolled an Argonian at this point, though suffering from Alt-itis the chance is always there, but I had to share the best named Argonian I've encountered. I ran into Davon's Watch bank and there was Eats-His-Feelings. Winning:)
