a few healing questions

i did two of the betas but i purposely didnt do a whole lot. im weird about replaying content and i like everything to be as fresh as possible when it launches. im wanting to be as much of a healer as possible without gimping my leveling experience. most mmos dont gimp healers as far as soloing leveling content these days, but like i said, i didnt do much in the beta. from what ive seen, it looks like templar with the resto staff is THE big healer. i have no issues rolling this but it looks like you have only healing abilities and nothing else. is templar with a resto staff not viable for solo leveling?

my zealot in warhammer was, hands down (as much as a i loved my daoc minstrel), the most fun ive ever had in a video game. i was straight heals but you still had enough dps to kill stuff if you needed to. you werent going to blow anything up but it worked fine. thats kinda what im shooting for. i LOVE healing in large scale RvR and the lack of a pure healer in gw2 is ultimately what prevented me from falling completely in love with it. although i do love love looove my necro in gw2.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. there may be another thread you can direct me to. i skimmed through but nothing caught my eye. at home with my 3 year old bouncing between the computer and other activities.

theres so much more than just healing to templar, although not to resto staff really, but you can go templar and use destr staff or any other weapon and get healing skills from templar, you can go resto staff and do the other 2 skill groups that templar has, theres 3 groups of skills for each class, templar only has one group of healing skills, i would recommend going to esohead.com and checking out their build calculator to get an idea of all the different ways you can mix and match types of skills, you could do a sorcerer with a resto staff if you wanted :D thats the beauty of eso!

you will have no issues in ESO,  I run a Templar healer and solo everything no problem, you only need to have your resto staff equipped for it to lvl, and one of your healing line traits to help lvl that along, the rest of your skill can be dps...  I usualy run in the spear line simply because the first skill in that line is ponturing strike is one of the best dps aoe skill Templar has and you can run that for a good portion of all your dps....

if you have any more question about that class hook me up in game, my main is going to be Templar healer

I'm thinking I will be trying out this build.  It's not a "typical" healer, but will allow for soloing because the heals also heal yourself.

The build is meant for a lot of personal flexibility. It only requires 75 points, leaving the rest for crafting, or other side damage skills.

Valewalker, As stated above you can heal with just about anything, but the closest this game will come to a pure healer is The Templar with a Restoration Staff. Also, it will give you the option of second weapon/skill set that you can switch to on the fly at level 15. So, you'll have some flexibility if you find yourself needing more DPS from time to time. If you want to find a good build, or just look for some inspiration, check out the Tamriel Foundry - Templar Theorycrafting thread.

HerrWalrossBart, that's the build I'm eyeing too. Either that or a healing Sorc, but I think the Nightblade healer will be my first try.

That name just makes me think of this huge Germanic guy with a curly "Walrus" moustache shouting "Dude, eat my shorts!"...

@Kalizaar

I've made a few changes to it already.

Fighter Guild as so much content is undead/daedra:

Intimidating Presence

Slayer

Banishing the Wicked

Alchemy, Argonian Racials, and Catalyst from Siphoning.  I should be maxing out my pots this way.
