Mount strategy

I read that you will not be able to increase mount abilities once the mount reaches level 50.  This restriction means you can’t “have it all” and have to choose carefully how much you increase each attribute.

I see that the most expensive mounts have one stat starting at 20 (or 15) are also level 1 which means at level 50 they will be better at one ability by 20 than the 1 gold/17k gold mounts.

I’m wondering what your mount strategy will be.  Will you get two mounts, one for AVA and another for PVE?  How are you planning to spec them?

I read stamina not only increases how long you can sprint but how hard it is to knock you off your mount when you are hit with damage.  So it sounds like AVA should have a mix of speed and stamina.

Just curious what your plans are.

I was planning on having 2 horses the light for pvp and the draft for pve. other than that I have not put much thought into point distribution yet.  Possibly stamina on the pvp to keep from getting dismounted. Still rolling it around inside the gray cells.

If you need more info on the mounts you can find it here.  http://www.elderscrollsguides.com/mounts/

I will be starting with my Imperial horse which I will probably train all towards inventory.  When I can afford it I will by a light horse and train him all in speed for those Cyrodiil movements.

Yeah Grym I think thats basically my plan as well. I figure I'll need the extra inventory space more than anything else. Thats valuable all the time. I'm so bad at PvP that I usually dont bother spending too many resources on making myself slightly less bad.

Not really a strategy, but a plan.

I'll be sticking with the pinto draft horse.  I loved that stupid horse.  Even named him Stupid Horse.  And I like having a horse you don't see many people ride.

Even if he is stupid.

How does the inventory on a mount work?  Do you get extra space whether you are on your mount or not?

I didn't think about getting 2 horses.  It's a fabulous idea.   One for bag space, and one for speed/travel.

That's what I did in the betas, too.  One horse for inventory and one horse for speed.  Works great EXCEPT currently there is not "respec" for horses.  So be VERY careful not to mix up your inventory and speed horses because there's no 'take backs'.  At least, not yet.  So name your horses to keep them different and don't get in a rush when you are training up your horses.

in the last beta I was getting 1 inventory spae for each day of feeding. and yes you keep that inventory space even when you are not riding it, as long as its not stabled.

you train a horse every 20 hours to increase a stat +1 to speed/inv/stam up to 50(?) total upgrades.  Some horses start with a bonus to capacity or speed.

My mount strategy is one of pure vanity...  I will get the Imperial horse just because I can, but I will be saving up for the Pinto which is the "pack" horse and - at least in Beta - started with 10 slots.  But I'm not getting her because of the extra storage - I just like the way she looks and my wood elf archer should be riding a pinto.  I will probably level her evenly through most of her stats - since I basically prefer to be on foot anyway.

I am pondering naming my Pinto - Scout - as my own little tribute to The Lone Ranger since that was Tonto's horse's name - at least on the TV series - and I watched that every Sat. morning when I was growing up - as well as Rin-Tin-Tin, Lassie, Sky King, and The Roy Rogers' Show.  I sooooo wanted to be Dale Evans - roping, riding, shooting my six gun - and married to Roy :)  what a life... ahhhhhh -  but I digress.

Yes, you can name horses. :)

I was planning on having two horses.. One for PVE for storage since I wouldn't care for speed, My PVP would be nothing but focused on speed.
