Is there any actual point to fishing?
Fishing does supply you with some mats necessary for provisioning recipes... but beyond that, it appears to be another time sink for making money. Though I think I recall seeing that if you caught every type of fish you got a fancy angler title for a reward (achievement).
From what I could tell it was mostly just for provisioning items, at least I never got anything else out of it. But I'm sure I will spend hours trying to get all the fishing achievements anyways
I can't be sure - but I have a feeling that knowing the devs of ESO - there will be something to it that wasn't there during the Beta. I just have this vibe - that they didn't show us all there was to see during the betas.
They have already stated that all skyshard locations will be changing.
They will be adding the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild after launch.
We will at some point be able to loot some of the weapon racks and other objects in the world.
I just don't think that they showed us all of the "secrets" they have in store for us. So, I will fish - just to see what might come of it.
I read, and heard from a friend, that if you fish in an area where others are fishing, it increases your chance of getting rare fish (trophies) thaat count towards the achievement. FISHING PARTIES!!!!!
lol can you picture 200 Guildies taking a pause from hard slog in cyrodil to throw a line into a single fishing hole.
I find fishing soothing... just like growing virtual carrots :3
Just wondering - Is fishing an activity that can be done while afk?
I believe that I read that you do indeed get more of a chance for rare fish the more people are fishing a school, but it of course decays correspondingly quickly.

Definitely can't do it AFK. It's a matter of selecting bait, casting, watching a bobber for a few minutes until it bobs, and then you have to react and reel it in. Cast again and rinse and repeat.
Lets make a fishing party video :)
